Continue ReadingHeritage Hall’s Trey Alexander was forced to sit out of the game against Crossings Christian due to an injured finger on his shooting hand. Knowing how important he is to the Chargers game plan, it was intriguing to see how they’d compete against the Knights explosive offensive attack, led by sophomore Reid Lovelace.
The first half started out quite sloppily for the Chargers and things completely got away from them in the second half as the Knights really took advantage of an anemic Charger team, handing them their fourth loss of the season, 68-50.
Heritage Hall is so heavily dependent on Alexander for offense and it showed today as there wasn’t any rhythm to their offense whatsoever. Crossings topped Heritage Hall with a valiant team effort led by two players: Reid Lovelace and Cooper Goodell.
Lovelace and Koonce played great games on both the offensive and defensive end, making offense even more challenging for the Chargers. Lovelace is an active player and that was on display tonight as well as he carved through the Chargers defense with ease, scoring 24 points on the night. Speaking of activeness, Lovelace was the culprit of many Heritage Hall turnovers. Goodell scored 11 points.
As for the Chargers, Kenneth Daughty, and Jack Spanier played well but it just wasn’t enough because they didn’t have much help. The duo combined for 22 points, but couldn’t make the game interesting because the rest of the team only combined for 28.
Crossings is 4-3 on the season and Heritage Hall didn’t have their star player, but these are the types of wins that can jumpstart a season for a team like Crossings.
