Looking ahead to the matchups that we will see this week, we are in for a treat as there are some very intriguing games that could turn out to be very special. Let’s take a glance at some of the games that you will most definitely want to see this week!
1/7/20 Westover @ Terry Sanford: Westover comes into this matchup at 12-0 while Terry Sanford comes in at 8-1. With both teams playing in the same conference, this game will be one that will bring a high amount of intensity and you can expect for the gym to be packed with fans. Westover HS Junior D’Marco Dunn is the leading scorer in public school while Terry Sanford Sophomore Davis Molnar leads the county in assist.
1/7/20 Greene Central @ Kinston: The gym will be packed for this one so you will want to make your way over to Kinston HS a little earlier than usual. Kinston is currently 9-2 with all of their losses coming to private school programs while Greene Central sits at 6-4 on the year. Some of the names to know for this matchup are Kinston HS Senior Guard Isaac Parson who has picked up multiple D2 offers. Kinston HS also features Junior Wing Dontrez Styles who has numerous HM offers and continues to climb the ranks as time goes on.
1/10/20 Clayton HS @ South Johnston: Both teams are off to impressive starts already with each squad having top wins and looking to continue to build on their success. This will be another matchup that will be packed with fans so we can expect a nice amount of intensity all around. The matchup to keep an eye on will be Clayton HS Star Senior Forward BJ Freeman and South Johnston HS Senior Forward CJ Ray. Freeman has been a beast, averaging 24 and 10 per game this season, while Ray has been putting up big time numbers of his own, averaging near 20 and 10 per game.
1/10/20 Garner @ Holly Springs: Holly Springs has gotten off to a slower start this year with a record of 5-8 but they feature multiple players that will be moving on to the next level to play after this season. One of those in particular is Senior Forward Kaleb Scott who is already signed to Georgia State, Scott at 6’8 with impressive upper body strength is a player that can dominate inside the paint on both ends of the floor. Garner has some special talent of their own in Senior Wing Christopher Nobles who has D1 offers as well as Sophomore Asa White who is a player that has plenty of interest.
1/10/20 Southwest Guilford @ Ben L Smith: This has a chance to be a good one as well, both teams have some nice talent and have had some success over the years competing deep into the state championships. Ben L Smith features two players that will play on the next level in Senior Guard Silas Mason and Senior Forward Nick McMullen who has decided to head to Murray State University. Southwest Guilford is led by Senior Guard Bryce Causey averaging 18 PPG while Senior Guard Jeremy Mull is averaging just under 19 PPG.
