This was a game full of action from the opening tip, especially by the defense. CBA jumped out early but Mater Dei was able to weather the storm and tie the game heading into halftime.
CBA gained an advantage in the fourth quarter. They were trailing by two heading into the final eight minutes but they were able to hold Mater Dei to just six points in the final period. This allowed them to jump out on top and grab a 50-43 win. Here are some of the top players from the game.
Pete Gorman | Mater Dei
Gorman stood out the most for Mater Dei in this one. He has been the leading scorer all season for Mater Dei and that did not change in this one. He finished with 17 points and was 8-10 from the charity stripe. Gorman is a player with a huge motor and plays at full speed at all times,
Colin Farrell | CBA
Farrell was the MVP of this game. He was tied for the team lead with 16 points and seemed to make a big play whenever one was needed. He acted as the point guard today and ran the offense perfectly. Farrell made an impact both inside and out in this one.
Anthony Tancredi | Mater Dei
Tancredi was the only other Seraph in double figures. The big fella got it going early from the elbow. He knocked down three shots from that spot and even stepped out to hit a big three. Tancredi finished with 11 points and also rebounded effectively.
Ryan Cremen | CBA
Cremen was tied with Farrell with 16 points in this one. Together, they combined for over half of CBA’s points. Cremen was the one Colt who was efficient from the free throw line. He finished 6-6 from the line and hit some key ones down the stretch.
Tahaj Parland | Mater Dei
Parland was the quarterback of the offense today. He did not get on the score sheet much but his presence was known through his sharp passing and strong defensive efforts. Parland attempted eight free throws in this game because of his ability to draw contact on the way to the rim.
Mike White | CBA
White has stepped into a larger role with sophomore Ryan Mabrey missing time. White is an elite defender and rebounder. He is a guard but is not afraid to go in amongst the trees and absorb contact. Some players impress using the eye test and White is one of those players.
