Cedar Hill and Rowlett played one of the tightest games of the tournament. This first round match up saw two high potential bigs go at it as the game unfolded. Below are four seniors that impressed in the early tournament bout.
When talking about a player with a high motor look no further than Ashton Howard. He’s constantly fighting for boards on both sides of the ball. He’s one of the first players back on defense and offense. He moves well, applying pressure to face up bigs and switching on to guards during pick and roll coverage. He operates well in the high post facing up and spraying defenders from 15 feet out.
Dawaun Mims moves a mile a minute and thankfully his mind works just as fast. Armed with a tight handle Mims cuts through the left side of court surveying the court for the right play. He finishes at a high rate in the paint thanks to the touch on his floater. A tough kid with the speed to stay in defender’s pocket.
LJ Olayinka is a tall drink of potential. They list the senior at 6-9 and he looks to be all of that and then some when he hits the floor. He runs well and has a Nice build that can only get stronger as he advances in the game. He shows signs of being a big time weak side rim protector.
Rowlett senior Torian Harris is built to play on the wing. 6-6 with long arms Harris brings a calm intensity to the court. He shoots with range and has the required athleticism to contribute at lower levels.
