Heritage Christian was in control of the game throughout and they ended up winning by a final score of 94-63. Here’s a look at some of the top standouts of the game from both teams.
1. Skyy Clark – Heritage Christian 2022
Clark is one of the most explosive guards in all of the state. He’s incredibly athletic and he’s looking to finish with authority at the rim. He’s explosive in the open court and difficult to contain once he’s got a full head of steam. He’s got a nice fadeaway and a step back jumper. Can make a move in 1-2 dribbles. While scoring is clearly his forte, he can be a playmaking guard as well.
2. Malvin Payero – Valley Christian 2020
Payero is a solid point guard. He knows when to change pace and adjust to either a fast break or in a half court setting. In the half court, he’s looking for his teammates, especially cutters around the rim. He can score when needed. He’s a strong finisher at the rim and can get himself to the free-throw line. He’s got a good midrange game and can shoot over defenders at times. Can shoot from three.
3. Max Allen – Heritage Christian 2022
Allen is a transfer from Las Vegas and is a major addition to the Warriors lineup. He’s a very strong inside presence. He has great size in the paint. He’s still a little raw, but the talent/skills are readily apparent. He sets good screens to free up his teammates. He’s very active defensively, especially around the rim. He challenges everything in the paint. Has all the makings of being an interior defensive anchor.
4. TJ Waters – Valley Christian 2023
Only a freshman, Waters looks like he could be a factor for the Defenders for the next couple of years. He’s just an overall tough player. He plays pretty tough defense on the perimeter. He found himself matched up against Clark at times and didn’t’ back down. Reads passes well and even picked off a few. Offensively, he’s not afraid to challenge shot blockers and go right to the rim.
5. Kyle Frelow – Heritage Christian 2021
Frelow is kind of a do it all type of player for the Warriors. A big contributor on both ends of the floor. He has quick moves in the paint, he’s decisive and looks to finish strong. Good footwork in the post. He’s a strong rebounder, especially on the offensive end to secure extra possessions. He moves well without the ball and makes strong cuts to the rim
