– Ballard defeated Male, 71-58.
– Fern Creek defeated Trinity, 54-45.
I will be discussing one player that stood out from each of these 4 teams that played in the LIT semifinals.
Four Standouts
Lewis Richards (Ballard)
The senior guard displayed a little bit of everything in their matchup against Male. He finished with a game-high 21 points. He also gathered 4 rebounds and 3 assists. His quickness and ability to finish with either hand under the basket is something to keep an eye on. A guard that can penetrate that quick and still be able to finish is something that is rare to find. Richards makes it look easy and makes this Ballard team even better than they already are. He was out for a couple games with a right arm injury. Now that he’s back, Ballard is at full strength and they are scary.
Jaden Rogers (Fern Creek)
The junior guard can do it all. He didn’t lead the team in scoring but he was a major factor in their victory over Trinity. He finished with 17 points and 6 assists. Rogers is an unselfish point guard that isn’t all about scoring, which is exactly what you want in your primary ball handler. Jaden’s ball handling skills are one of the best I have seen in the state and his passing ability might be even better. He can score in rapid fashion as well. A point guard that can score, ball handle, and pass? Who wouldn’t want this kid?! Jaden is one of the top juniors in the state and he put that on display tonight.
Kaleb Glenn (Male)
The freshman forward played excellent in this game despite the loss. Kaleb played against his old team tonight. He played varsity as an 8th grader for Ballard. He transferred to Male for his freshman year. Kaleb is one of the top freshmen in the state and will probably be heard about nationally as well. He has 3 more years to develop and he’s a name you’ll want to remember. Glenn finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds in the game. Standing at 6’6″ as a freshman is already worth recognizing but his athleticism is even more eye opening. Whether he finishes his high school career at Male or somewhere else, he will be one of the best players to come out of the state in his class.
Zach Stahlman (Trinity)
The junior forward is very crafty. His ball handling skills are something that may catch you off guard at first but then appreciate. Stahlman finished with a team-high 19 points. He gathered 4 rebounds as well. It seemed like every shot that Stahlman put up it was going in. He was the ultimate hot hand for the Shamrocks. Despite the loss this Trinity team is starting to click. The two juniors, Zach Stahlman and Ethan Hodge, have been one of the major factors in this team starting to jell at the right time. They can both shoot it but they love to attack the inside the most. They want to get to the rim as much as possible and let the others shoot from behind the arc. Stahlman’s leadership will be huge for the Shamrocks moving closer to March.
