Each week, Prep Hoops Missouri will spotlight a group of those players who are putting in the work without garnering a lot of attention. Here is the second installment in that series.
Chris Hill 6’2″ Brentwood: The 2020 power guard is a small-school bucket getter who has been near or at the top of the scoring charts in the St Louis area for the past two seasons. He is currently stuffing the stat sheet to the tune of 28 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and five steals a game. He is physically strong with the skill set to get wherever he wants to on the floor. He picked up his first offer from North Arkansas College this week.
Liam Weaver 6’4″ Pembroke Hill: A versatile wing player who is an excellent all-purpose player. He played an excellent role for a outstanding Marcus Denmon Elite 16U team during the summer. He has been stuffing the stat sheet at Pembroke Hill since his freshman year. He is currently averaging 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals a game. He is a very skilled all-around player who is very unselfish, but can take over games when he has to.
Andrew Branson 6’2″ St. James: A talented 2021 guard who led the Tigers to a berth in the Class 3 state quarterfinals last season. He is a very resourceful scorer who can get buckets on the drive, on short jumpers, plus he is a solid 3-point shooter. He is averaging 24.5 points a game while making 80 percent of his free throws in leading St James to a 9-1 record.
Blake Fowler 5’10” Campbell: A small school 2021 standout who has been carrying a big scoring load since he was a freshman. Saw him with the SEMO Bulls during the summer and was impressed with his ability handle and pass the ball while being able to create off the dribble. Will surpass 1,500 points this season. Led Campbell to a 9-2 record.
Jacques Thomas 6’4″ Rockwood Summit: An explosive 2020 wing who is enjoying a breakout season. He is an excellent open court player who can make exciting plays above the rim. He is currently averaging 17 points, five rebounds and three steals. He is a terrific slasher, but he has improved his 3-point shooting.
Chol Ater 6’2 Benton: A talented 2020 combo guard who has led the Cardinals to a 7-2 record to start the season. He is a smooth ball handler with creative dribbling skills and the court vision to drop some excellent dimes off the bounce. He has a smooth stroke from 3-point range and he can also get into the lane on a regular basis. His length also enables him to be very disruptive on the defensive end as he will grab two or three steals a game.
