Qian Magwood (Walnut Ridge)- Incredibly quick defensive player that was tasked with defending one of the best players in the state in Paul McMillan. He did just that with his phenomenal footwork and didn’t back down from the challenge. Strong upper body and great control against McMillan. Offensively, he combines great point guard skills with a quick pace style of play to make him a dangerous scoring option.
Kaveon Ross (Walnut Ridge)- Extremely strong and physical player. He was a problem for Woodward on the offensive glass as they were unable to box him out and keep him boxed out. He uses his 6’6 frame to be an inside-out force. Posts up with authority and seals off his defender and can also knock down 3PT shots from the wings.
Grant Huffman (St. Edward)- One of the best facilitators on display during the weekend. Found ways to score the ball while also putting the ball in his teammates hands. Showed he was not afraid of anyone as he was attacking the rim against Huntington Prep who had D1 prospects defending him.
Montorie Foster (St. Edward)- Solid guard, quick enough on the dribble drive to create space to take jumpshots. Had the speed to get in the paint at will and finished well at the rim. Very good ball-handler that handled defensive pressure.
John Hugley (Brush)- Pitt commit. Offensively I was impressed with his awareness in the paint, especially getting a feel for where the defense was when guarding him. Absolutely ferocious rebounder and post defender. Showed he could score and be a multilevel scorer.
Isaiah Ingol (St. Vincent-St. Mary)- Really nice point guard. Handled intense Trotwood pressure and was able to get by defenders. Used his first two dribbles to setup solid breakdowns against the Rams. Showed patience against the pressure.
Marcus Johnson (St. Vincent-St. Mary)- Big interior presence and extremely physical. Used his spin move on the block and also off the dribble to create offense. An unknown name to me before this event but one of the better post performers.
Connor Maciag (Pickerington Central)- Involved himself in every play. Within the first few moments of the game, he had taken a charge, rebounded on both ends of the floor, and scored. Played his heart off and helped give life for the Tigers to get the big win.
