Chaleviox Head Coach Matt Stuck 2,449 points (8th all time, 5th at time of career completion) 1,287 rebounds (4th all time, 3rd at time of career completion)
Manton Head Coach Ryan Hiller 2,183 points (17th all time, 10th at time of career completion)
Those banners were not present in this contest as the game was in Charlevoix, Knowing the coaches, they would most likely say “it’s about the kids”. So without further ado here are five prospects that stood out from the matchup. Charlevoix won 65-52
Charlevoix
Luke Stuck 6-5 2020 A big wide bodied prospect with good bloodlines. Playing for his aforementioned father while his twin sister is one of the top girls basketball prospects in state. Uses his size well and is not afraid of contact. Very good at establishing post position. Struggled in the first half with finishing at the rim. Showed a much softer touch in the second half. Capped off with a nice right handed hook off the glass. Had 10 points on the night and dominated the boards against Manton’s small frontline. Similar to Ludington’s Jake Plamondon who I wrote about last week. A good, country strong, small college big man prospect.
Evan Solomon 6-3 2022 When I first saw this prospect at the Ferris St exposure camp in the fall he appeared to be a little more athlete than player; within the regular season setting his impressive skill set was readily apparent. Played mostly point guard last night, but with his youth and size is probably a 2 at the next level. Despite not playing natural position, displayed enough ball handling and vision to be an intriguing long term 1 if he doesn’t grow. Penetrated hard all night utilizing a lethal first step. Shoots a legitimate jump shot that he elevates very well on. Showed deep range on multiple 3’s Tenacious on defense forcing turnovers in the front of the Rayders press. Had a very good all around game with 17 points. When you combine the age, size, and skill; easily the best long term backcourt prospect I have seen in the North this year.

Jacob Mueller 6-6 2020 The polar opposite of his post teammate Luke Stuck. Long and lean with a soft touch in the post. Mueller struggled with foul trouble on the night, so I didn’t get the longest look at him. The foul trouble came from a propensity to fall for pump fakes. Accordingly he is willing defender and excellent leaper. Good at following his shot as he has a quick second jump. Very agile and showed the lost art of moving well without the ball. Scored 15 points in limited time.
Manton
Kaleb Moore 5-8 2021 Pint sized point taking up the Jayden Perry mantle at Manton. Very proficient in the pick and roll. Cleverly split double teams with the dribble on more than one instance. Scored nine points on the night and probably could have been more assertive for the Rangers. Next step in his game is extending his range on the perimeter. Would make him that much more difficult to defend. As he can already can get to his spots with the dribble.

Jacob Haun 6-0 2020 The surprise of the game for me. A three sport athlete who hasn’t done much in terms of summer ball. Haun is a fearless and competitive athlete. Kind of position-less player, we’ll go with the position slasher. That was what he did all night. Just fearless hard drives to the hole. Not known as shooter but did hit a timely three to keep Manton within striking distance. Displayed athleticsim with a big time block at the rim. Not really on the recruiting radar right now. But he can keep up efforts like tonight, he could be a late bloomer. Finished with a game high 20 points.
