For whatever reason these players escaped the @PrepHoopsTN gaze until now. These are all first impressions from this scout’s eye.
F Jackson Sleeper (Grace Christian Academy)
Heart. Not a leaper yet midway through his sophomore season. Handles contact ok. Not shy about mixing it up for rebounds. Didn’t take many faceup shots, but his form is gorgeous.
F Jo Cantrell (Battle Ground Academy)
Signed to Sewannee for football. Decent explosion. Tough mentally and physically. Wins confrontations in the lane regularly.
Wing Xavier Shaw (Battle Ground Academy)
Light on his feet. Handle needs work.
PG Jordan Tinnon (Grace Christian Academy)
In 2-3 defense, he defends the corner. Tinnon boasts really steady handle while playing as a “heavy/strong” freshman guard. The potential is encouraging as he physically and mentally (bball) matures. Lacks the grip strength needed to wrestle the basketball away from stronger players. He is strong enough at his age to be a dominant rebounding guard at the high school level as early as next season.
PG Sean Williams (Battle Ground Academy)
Assist-minded. Good teammate.
Wing Will Beasley (Grace Christian Academy)
A little grit. Long arms at 6-foot-3. Shot is unorthodox but extremely consistent. Beasley is a Class of 2021 prospect with fringe college potential currently.
Wing Mitchell Petzelt (Battle Ground Academy)
Signed as a college baseball player. Big shoulders/arms. Modest catch-and-shoot threat.
Wing Garnett Hollis Jr. (Battle Ground Academy)
Best athlete on the team. Incredibly fluid gait at 6-foot-2. Will play cornerback for Northwestern University after choosing NU over 18 other D1 offers. Incredibly elegant. Could start for an OVC basketball program for 3 years if that were his chosen path.
F Calvin Quehl (Battle Ground Academy)
Prideful defender. Light on his feet. Not entrusted with many touches. Can hit the triple. Shot mechanics are a little slower than ideal and yet he is a reliable outside shooter when given a window.
