In this second part, we will look at some players who are shooting at a high percentage from behind the three-point arc with a few less overall attempts. It will be fun to see how these players continue their strong play going forward after the break.
Luis Miera – Bear Creek
Luis has scored double figures in eight of their nine games to start the season, he is a guard that plays fast and under control. He is currently shooting 24/39 for sixty-two percent from behind the three-point arc on the season for Bear Creek. He is averaging: 16.2 PPG, 3.6 APG, 1.1 RPG, 1.9 SPG, he has hit the twenty or more point mark three times so far this year, with 25 being his season high against Falcon. He shot six of eight from distance in that game earlier in the year, getting the 67-58 victory. His 16.2 PPG leads the team for Bear Creek, they entered the holiday break with a 5-4 record. They will face Liberty in their first game back from break on Monday at home.
Jesus Barron – Westminster
Jesus is shooting 24/42 for fifty-seven percent from long distance to start the year, he is currently averaging: 10.4 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 1.1 APG, 1.1 SPG for Westminster. His 10.4 PPG ranks third on the team currently, his forty-two attempts from three are the most on the team. His season high of 20 came earlier in the year against Mead, he would shoot six of eleven from distance in the loss. In the second to last game before break against Monarch, in a high scoring shoot-out game that went into overtime, Jesus would shoot a perfect six of six from three-point range but Westminster would end up losing 90-95.
Reece Kelly – Mountain Vista
Reece is having a great start to his senior season, he is averaging: 18.8 PPG, 9.0 RPG, 2.4 APG for Mountain Vista. He has a great stroke from behind the arc, he is shooting 24/51 for forty-seven percent to start the year. He has scored twenty or more points in five of their eight games, with 25 being is season high, hitting that mark three times so far. Reece is also very effective from the foul-line where he shoots seventy-five percent (36/48). He finished last year shooting forty-three percent from long-distance (32/75), it will be interesting to see how he finishes out the year shooting the ball.
Lian Ramiro – Grandview
Lian is also having a great start to this senior season, helping lead the Wolves to a 5-3 record entering the break. He is averaging: 14.3 PPG, 4.5 APG, 2.5 RPG, 1.4 SPG to start the season, shooting 24/51 for forty-seven percent from behind the three-point arc. He has scored double figures in seven of their eight games so far, with his season high of 23 coming in a win against Lincoln earlier in the year 56-43. He shot seven of eleven from distance in that game, by far his best performance from distance so far this season.
Kobe Sanders – Chaparral
Kobe is the senior leader for Chaparral going into the year, he is currently averaging: 17.0 PPG, 4.5 APG, 1.9 RPG, 1.5 SPG, shooting 25/77 for thirty-two percent from behind the three-point arc so far on the season. He has scored double figures in seven of the eights game before break, with 25 as his high coming in a loss against Smoky Hill earlier in the year. Kobe has hit five or more threes in three games this season, with seven makes being his season high. He is also shooting seventy-five percent from the charity strip (15/20) and fifty-five percent from inside the three-point arc.
Darius Hornbuckle – Thomas Jefferson
Darius has helped Thomas Jefferson reach a 5-4 record going into the break. He is currently averaging: 17.8 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 1.9 APG, 1.9 SPG, shooting fifty percent from long distance 23/46 so far on the year. He has scored double figures in seven of the eights games, with 27 being he season high against Falcon. He finished last year shooting thirty-six percent from behind the arc on over one hundred attempts. He often shoots well beyond the three, and is able to create separation with his ball handling.
