Jacob Buchanan – 2020 – PG – Dodgeville
Buchanan was a bright spot in what was a tough night and has been a rough season for Dodgeville. Facing a team that could win a state championship, Buchanan made a number of plays at the rim against an aggressive defense that takes a lot of chances. Buchanan has good speed on the ball and can break down defenders off the bounce. Once he got to the rim, Buchanan was able to finish over defenders and off-balance on a number of occasions.
Brayden Dailey – 2021 – F – Cuba City
Dailey had an easy 20 points on Monday. Some of his normal opportunities were taken away due to Dodgeville’s zone, but he got the crowd going with a couple of big dunks in transition. When Dailey was left open on the perimeter, as usual, it was automatic. A deadly sniper, Dailey has proven to be a top five 3-point shooter in the state over the last two-plus seasons. What Division 1 schools like is his deceptive athleticism. He may not look the part, but Dailey has no problem rising to the rim and dunking the ball home. Dailey also looks a little stronger and more filled out since June, which should help his stock when schools start to really watch him again in April and July.
Jackson Noll – 2020 – G – Cuba City
Noll had a game-high 24 points in Monday’s win. When he’s given freedom and a green light offensively, Noll can really fill it up from the outside. A guard with in-the-gym range, Noll stretched the zone with a couple of deep triples. The senior guard also got up and down in transition, getting ahead of the defense and finishing at top end speed. Still uncommitted, Noll said UW-Stout, Concordia (WI), and Buena Vista were the three schools he is highest on right now. A dangerous shooter who can also survey the floor, get into high percentage areas, draw defenders, and make the right basketball play, Noll also currently leads the Cubans in assists this season.
Brady Olson – 2020 – PG – Cuba City
Olson is the straw that stirs the drink for Cuba City. The senior guard brings a ton of energy to the floor, whether it’s pushing the basketball up ahead to his teammates, flying around defensively, picking up full court, and whipping the ball around the floor and forcing the defense to scramble. Offensively, the ball just never sticks to Olson’s hands. When he catches, it’s either moved to the open man or he puts it on the deck and makes something happen instantaneously. Facing a zone defense, Olson hit the gaps hard and kicked out to shooters or connected on mid-range floaters. Half the time, Olson got the ball up the floor so quickly, the zone couldn’t even get set up. Olson, who has a Division 2 offer from Saint Leo, finished with 15 points and a handful of assists.
Riley Richard – 2021 – W/G – Cuba City
Richard only came in averaging about six points per game, but put up 17 on Monday. The junior has a nice offensive package and could be someone who breaks out next season. He’s listed at 6-feet, but Richard has some nice length and is very fluid with the ball in his hands. Richard makes slashing to the bucket look effortless. He also has a very smooth stroke from 3-point range and a soft touch as well. Touches could be hard to come by at points this season with Dailey, Olson, Noll, and even Jack Misky, but Division 3/NAIA schools may want to keep this kid in mind as a potential hidden gem as Richard definitely showed some nice flashes in our first viewing.
