There were 10 teams full of players looking to put their names on the map. Here are some of the top players who did so during the event.
Anthony Barthel (2021) | Freehold Township
Freehold picked up a double-digit win over Woodbridge during the shootout and Barthel led the way. He scored a team-high 20 points on 9-15 shooting. He did most of his work from inside the arc but did knock down a big three in the second half. Joe Lardaro and Zach Orrico are names being discussed surrounding Freehold basketball but Barthel should not be forgotten.
Edin Olivic (2022) | Woodbridge
This is a major transition year for Woodbridge. They have three sophomores in their starting lineup and Olivic is the main one. He knocked down two three’s in the second quarter. He finished with game with 11 points and proved that he is a legit shooting threat.
Anthony Tancredi (2022) | Mater Dei
Pete Gorman is the leader of Mater Dei and has been doing a large majority of the scoring. Tancredi proved against CBA that he has potential. He finished with 11 points and was one of two Mater Dei players in double-figures. He got it done from all over the floor. Just a sophomore, Tancredi is a name to keep an eye on moving forward.
Ryan Cremen (2021) | CBA
Cremen has taken over as one of CBA’s top scorers with Ryan Mabrey out with an injury. He scored 16 points in a win over Mater Dei. This was his sixth game of the season with 10 or more points. Cremen was effective from the free throw line knocking down all six of his attempts. It has been a tough start to the season for CBA but they are still a threat and Cremen is a reason why.
Eugene Brown (2020) | Central Regional
Brown has been a double-double machine for Central this season. He put up another big game against St. Joe’s (Hamm.) on his home court during the shootout. He finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds in the loss. This was his sixth double-double of the season. The 6’4 senior is an aggressive big man with a soft touch around the rim. He has dominated on both sides of the ball this season.
Logan Peters (2021) | Wall
Peters has been a do-it-all player for Wall this season. He does not light up the scoreboard but he scores enough while grabbing rebounds and playing strong defense. He is averaging 8.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game this season. In a loss to Toms River North, Peters finished with 12 points and four rebounds. He also dished out two assists. Wall had a hard time with the Mariners but Peters made his presence felt.
