Cashion got off to a slow start in the consolation game against Dale, but Alex Nabavi and Jonah Jenkins had huge games while combining for more than half of Cashion’s points.
Nabavi was Cashion’s constant throughout the game. While he’s a star football player, he does damage on the basketball court as well. There were multiple occasions where Nabavi used his natural athleticism on the defensive end of the floor, stealing the ball three times yet still had the skill to score 16 points offensively.
Although Nabavi probably won’t play college basketball, he could. He had the work ethic, athleticism, and skill it takes to do so.
As for Jenkins, he was Cashion’s go-to guy on offense. While he isn’t a poor defensive player, Nabavi and others handled things on that end of the floor. Jenkins netted two threes and relentlessly attacked the basket throughout, resulting in eight trips to the free-throw line where he hit seven.
Cashion won the consolation trophy from their tournament and while they didn’t win it all, their victory over No. 1 ranked Dale will surely help their No. 7 ranking in Class 2A.
