Junior guard Atrel Bryson was, in my opinion, the best player in the tournament on the boy’s side of the bracket. Not only was he the clear leader of the Reds team, but he was also their go-to player through three quarters. Every time Bryson touched the ball something good came out of it. Whether that was a tough finish at the basket, a mid-range floater, a mid-range jumper, or simply getting to the line, Bryson made magic happen with the ball in his hands.
He finished with 26 points on no three-point attempts, which in today’s game is very unusual. He attacked the basket relentlessly, which had him visit the line six times.
What’s crazy about Bryson’s story is that he fouled out late in the fourth quarter and still finished with 26 points. What would have happened if he played four more minutes? Expect Bryson to take Clinton far in the 3A playoffs.
