Defensively, both teams showed outstanding quickness and rotation, making it very difficult for either team to get any points in the paint. DJ Freeman of Casady racked up 6 blocks on the night, three of which came while he had five fouls, showing off his ability to stay solid and within himself while still making a great impact defensively in the paint.
On the offensive side of the ball, Millwood’s Williams took control and lead the offense, vocally and through his own example. He was willing to go move for move with any defender, even forcing DJ Freeman into quick foul trouble, causing him to sit out the entire second quarter. Williams scored from all three levels, displaying the same confidence and ability that he showed at the Tournament of Champions last weekend. He received an offer from SWOSU that weekend and you can expect to see another if he continues to play at this high of a level.
Dylan Vasan for Casady played harder and with more energy than anybody else on the court tonight. Hustling back on defense or pressuring the ball at all times, Vasan took no possessions off and played his tail off for his teammates, pushing them to another level of intensity each time down the court.
PJ Johnson scored what by far was the easiest 24 points I’ve seen in person. Willing his way to the basket and drawing foul after foul, Johnson knew his game and worked it to perfection. With 14 of his 24 points coming in the fourth quarter, Johnson excelled in clutch moments, getting to his spots and knocking down tough shots.
