The truly talented ones have a major impact on wins and losses for their team. They raise the overall play of their teammates, and when they’re on the floor the entire team becomes that much more dangerous. In this article, PH takes a look at some of the most valuable players in Nevada.
Jaden Hardy 6’4 PG Coronado 2021 (#1PHN 2021) – It might sound obvious but his impact on Coronado’s outcome is almost immeasurable. Just think about this, Hardy put up 62 in a game his team scored 85 and won by one. In the next game, the opposition just decided to double him from the jump. He’s been able to impose his will while competing against a tough national schedule.
Glenn Taylor 6’5 SF Cheyenne 2021 (#4PHN 2021) – Arguably one of the most underrated players in the state. Taylor orchestrates the entire offense for Cheyenne. He leads the team in scoring averaging over 20 per game, but what makes him so valuable is that he is also one of the best rebounders and passers on the team. Taylor has an extremely high IQ and understands time, score and situation better than most kids at the prep level.
Tavionte Jackson 6’0 PG Las Vegas 2022 (#11PHN 2022) – Jackson combines his scoring ability with his understanding of how to control the offense. He typically leaves his imprint all over the court as the 6’0 PG leads the team in scoring, rebounds and steals.
Milos Uzan 6’3 PG Desert Pines 2022 (#3PHN 2022) – This is a unique situation as Desert Pines is absolutely loaded with talent. What makes Uzan so valuable is his ability to keep all those scorers happy. He manages to do this without losing his own rhythm. High IQ guy that understands the strengths and weaknesses of his teammates. The sophomore currently leads his team in points and assist.
Ethan Speaker 6’6 SF Boulder City 2021 (#8PHN 2021) – Speaker was the overwhelming winner of our twitter poll for 3A player of the year. I understand why. The guy has been a manchild all season. When things get tough for Boulder, Speaker can simply take over the game with his rebounding and playmaking. Despite a tough non-conference schedule, Speaker has the Eagles with a 16-9 record while leading the team in points, rebounds, and steals.
Ray Daniels 6’6 SF Somerset Losee 2020 (#25PHN 2020) (featured image) – Daniels is Mr versatile for Somerset. The 6’6 uber skilled wing currently leads the team in every statistical category. He is under pressure night in and out to produce, just for his team to have a chance to win. He never disappoints, bringing it every game. Daniels has already had 3 games with over 30 points including a 39 point performance in a 64-63 win.
Azavier Johnson 6’4 PG Faith Lutheran 2021 (#11PHN 2021) – Johnson’s not even the leading scorer on his team. That honor goes to Nicholas Attanasio. However, the engine that is Faith Lutheran’s offense, begins with Johnson. Attanasio benefits mightly from the vision and passing of Johnson, and he is Faith’s go-to guy when they need a bucket. Overall he is the perfect player to orchestrate coach Walters read and react offense.
