Through an overall disappointing tournament for the Irish, two players stuck out as bright spots for this team.
Cooper Bates and Jason Nolan.
On night two, no one but Bates scored in double figures for the Irish. He was undoubtedly their only offensive option and their most confident player on that end of the floor.
Bates scored 10 points against Santa Fe but Bishop only scored 33. There wasn’t much he could work with, but if there was a positive around this team, he was a large part of it.
Nolan is extremely underrated. He was potentially the most athletic in the tournament but couldn’t get anything to fall other than a layup off of an offensive rebound. That offensive rebound was reflective of what he does regularly for the Irish. He does the dirty work; getting rebounds, diving for loose balls, and more.
These two didn’t get the personal accolades at the tournament’s end, but their hard work and contributions haven’t gone unnoticed. Both are seniors that can play at the next level.
