Point Guard Khalid Hinds, Ben L. Smith
Khalid Hinds is a floor general that continues to impress at Ben L. Smith High School. Hinds showed off his ability to score and distribute in a competitive game between two top teams in the Triad area. He finished with 15 points along with two made 3-pointers for the Golden Eagles despite their result. He’s a gritty point guard at 5-foot-11 that sets himself apart with his ability to pressure the ball on defense and push the pace on offense. Hinds holds an offer from Mid-Atlantic Christian University.
Wing/Forward Silas Mason, Ben L. Smith
Silas Mason is another unsigned prospect at Ben L. Smith with a number of offers from Division 1 programs. He put up 23 points against Piedmont Classical. He got to the free-throw line quite a bit while creating off the dribble drive. Mason didn’t showcase too much of his 3-point shot, while he did make one in the second quarter. His ability to create on the perimeter is something he should look to do down the stretch of the season
Guard Qualeem Poindexter, Piedmont Classical
Piedmont Classical’s biggest spark off the bench was guard Qualeem Poindexter. He made five 3-pointers across their two games in the Big Shots MLK Tourney Town Showcase including four in their big win over Ben L. Smith. Poindexter is more than just a sharpshooter as well, he’s aggressive getting to the rim and finishes strong through contact as well. He put up 22 points against Smith while going 8-for-9 from the free-throw line. He’s an unsigned senior college coaches should take a look at.
Guard Jaquez Smith, Salisbury
Jaquez Smith is a speedy guard that can create his own shot on the perimeter. He posted 12 points on four made 3-pointers to pace his Hornets squad in the first half against Reidsville. In the second half, he cooled off a bit, but he still managed to finish with 16 points in the contest. He’s a combo guard worth some attention at Salisbury High School.
Guard Zay Kesler, Salisbury
Zay Kesler is an underrated guard that turned heads at the showcase for Salisbury. He finished with 24 points, getting to the rim at will against Reidsville despite the result. He opened the game with 10 points, shooting with efficiency to pace a lead for the Hornets. He’s a lengthy prospect that can create and competes on both ends.
Wing/Forward Kaleb Brooks, Wesleyan Christian
Wesleyan Christian Trojans wing/forward Kaleb Brooks is an unsigned prospect with tons of versatility. He set the tone in the first half for the Trojans with nine points and a made 3-pointer to give them a solid lead in the early going. In the second half, he made another 3-pointer while also showcasing his game in the post. In the end, the versatile prospect finished with 17 points, showing off his ability to operate on all three levels of the floor with his size.
Guard Landon Sutton, High Point Christian
Landon Sutton is a combo guard that can fill it up from behind the arc. Sutton finished with 28 points, showcasing his three-level scorer ability and ability to create off the bounce.
