Scorer: 2021 Breon Pass, Reidsville
Breon Pass was the top scorer from the Big Shots MLK Tourney Town Showcase with 50 points, 32 of them coming in the second half. Pass put on a show with his ability to score all over the floor for the Rams in his 50-point performance. He knocked five 3-pointers and got a number of And-1s throughout the contest to propel his team to a two-point victory in the end. He put the rest of the 2021 class on notice with his performance, that’s for sure.
Sharpshooter: 2025 Eli Ellis, Moravian Prep
Seventh-grader Eli Ellis set the bar in the opening game of the day with 12 made 3-pointers to go along with 48 points to pace the Moravian Prep Regional squad. Despite him just being in middle school, Ellis showed he belonged with a stellar performance against Salem Baptist Christian. He made six of his 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.
Playmaker: 2021 Jamarii Thomas, Piedmont Classical
When it comes to just making plays, it’s hard not to talk about the ability 2021 guard Jamarii Thomas has to control the pace and energy in games with his ability to run the offense on one end and create havoc on the defensive end. Thomas showed he can make an impact by doing more than just score with his assists and ability to finish at the rim through contact.
Paint Presence: 2022 Jalon Walker, Salisbury
He’s only a sophomore but 6-foot-3 forward Jalon Walker may have found his niche already for the Salisbury Hornets as their rim protector. Walker held his own in the paint for the Hornets despite the final result. He’s a strong prospect with length that had a large number of blocks and rebounds down low for Salisbury. He’s also a football prospect.
Versatile Threat: 2022 Kamell Smith, Eastern Guilford
Eastern Guilford junior Kamell Smith is quite the prospect on the hardwood. He’s a guy that can play inside and out with his ability to play above the rim and battle in the paint. Smith is a 6-foot-4, 200-pound prospect that can handle it on the perimeter as well as operate in the post. He flies around the floor doing whatever needs to be done for his squad.
