Millennium once again comes in at the #1 spot. Millennium has been on a mission to redeem their state title loss from last season and behind the efforts of the team, they are looking really dangerous. Millennium is looking like they will avenge that loss this season.
#2 Desert Vista (6A)
DV comes in at #2 in the state. Their team is very deep and super athletic. They have been playing very well all season and are looking like the favorites in 6A.
#3 Ironwood (5A)
Coming in at #3 is the only team in 5A that could potentially beat Millennium, in my opinion. Ironwood is very deep as well, they have a ton of shooters, great defenders, and now they have a bit more size to bridge the gap between themselves and Millennium.
#4 Skyline (6A)
Coming in at #4 is a team that I think could potentially beat DV come playoff time. Skyline has turned in a really solid season, they have a ton of chemistry, and probably the best pure point guard in the state. Skyline is someone you don’t want to run into come playoff time.
#5 Gilbert (5A)
Gilbert comes in at #5. They’ve really turned in a great season this far, beating some notable teams. The reason they drop to #5 is because they dropped in their conference rankings, after their loss to Millennium.
#6 Catalina Foothills (4A)
Catalina Foothills takes a big jump this week, after they have defeated the then #1 team in 4A, Salpointe. This is the main reason you see Catalina Foothills take such a big jump in their conference rankings, as well as the all-state rankings.
#7 Arcadia (4A)
Arcadia makes a bit of a jump as well. Their jump comes from a mix between them playing really well and Salpointe losing. The Salpointe loss dropped them in their conference rankings, making a path for Catalina Foothills and Arcadia to move up the conference and all-state rankings.
#8 Salpointe Catholic (4A)
Salpointe Catholic drops you #8. As mentioned before, they suffered their first loss of the season it rival Catalina Foothills. This loss dropped them in the 4A rankings, which in turn dropped them in the all-state rankings. However, don’t panic just yet. I still believe Salpointe Catholic will perform the rest of the season and I still believe they will win state.
#9 Hamilton (6A)
Hamilton is playing really good team basketball all season long. This is the main attribute to their success on the season. We’ll see how far their team style of play will take them in the playoffs.
#10 Peoria (4A)
Peoria is currently undefeated and they round out our update on the top teams in state. They have a nice mix of experience and youth. This pairing has guided them to an amazing season thus far.
