The game was a tight competition, as both teams were familiar with each other’s strategies from the last time they squared off. Santiam Christian included some news faces in their starting line-up, including Levi Villers who provided some new life to their starting five. Koby Williamson and Joe MaQatish played a nice one-two game, as MaQatish played the high post, initiating the high post and looked for the mismatch inside to Koby. Santiam stayed competitive throughout the entire game, trailing 29-22 at the half. Jack Meadows and Trey Crabb held down the inside and outside, respectively, for Harrisburg, giving Santiam Christian trouble all game. Meadows all around maneuvering and Crabb’s solid guard play kept the opposition at bay the entire night. Late in the fourth quarter, thanks to some inside toughness from Koby WIlliamson, Santiam Christian got within one point. However, Harriburg held their composure and got some late game heroics from Alonzo Ranch and took home the win, escaping with a 55-50 result. Here are the top performers from last night’s action.
Levi Villers (Santiam Christian HS) – the forward for Santiam provided some life into the starting line-up, as the 6’3” junior brought infrastructure into their front line. He added some support defensively and rebounding wise and could score when the opportunity presented itself. Villers contributed 6 points and 6 rebounds in a losing effort
Ben Galceran (Santiam Christian HS) – the poised, senior guard didn’t get as many shots as he usually does, but provided a scoring spark in what was a defensive battle. He contributed 12 points as he displayed the wide variety of ways he can score. He knocked down some three’s as well as took it to the basket, one of the trips he had a nice floater that hit nothing but net.
Koby Williamson (Santiam Christian HS) – the senior big man for the Eagles erupted for 20 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks. They could not stop him down low, as he battled the various defenders for tough baskets interiorly. He also knocked down some outside shots, showing off his range. Had another significant game where he was the most dominant force inside the paint.
Joe MaQatish (Santiam Christian HS) – although he didn’t have the most eye-popping statline, it was more about the role MaQatish played Friday night. He was the calm high post man for the Eagles, facilitating, and moving the ball around for the Eagles. MaQatish connected with Williamson inside on several occasions, as Santiam took advantage of their height. Posted 2 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks for the night.
Jack Meadows (Harrisburg HS) – the swiss army knife for Harrisburg showed off his versatility, playing defense, grabbing rebounds, and scoring in all sorts of ways. He was crafty inside, had a nice mid-range game, and just found scored, plain and simple. The point-forward contributed 11 points and 5 rebounds for Harrisburg as his presence was felt all night.
Trey Crabb (Harrisburg HS) – the uptempo, physical huard had a nice all-around game for the Eagles, with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Crabb seemed to have his hand everywhere in the game, scoring within and outside of the paint and playing defense all over the floor. When he wasn’t scoring, he was playing outstanding defense and when he wasn’t doing that he was finding his teammates for scores.
Alonzo Ranch (Harrisburg HS) – the surprise of the game was certainly Ranch of Harrisburg, as he put away the game with several key lay-ups down the stretch. When the game was close, Harrisburg called for physical lay-ups at the rim, high percentage shots to ensure that they would hold on to the lead. Alonzo followed this strategy to 13 points as he provided a spark off the bench and ensure victory for Harrisburg.
