5. Golden
Golden had a tough loss to begin the week against a talented George Washington team, but have beat some very good teams. This team has four losses but they are all to very good teams with two top 5A teams, an out of state loss, and a good Lewis-Palmer team. With those losses they have some impressive wins beating Sand Creek, Pueblo East, Fossil Ridge, and Horizon. This team has one of the best freshman in the state, Alan Acevedo, who is averaging an impressive stat line of 12.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. They have a big match up coming up when they play a Green Mountain team hanging around the 4A top ten.
4. Pueblo West
Pueblo West has beat some big teams recently in Harrison and Holy Family. This team had a rocky start to the season but it seems to have serviced as a wake up call because ever since the first they have been on fire. They are being led by senior Taylor Harris who is averaging 16.6 points, 4.9 assists, and 7 rebounds per game. Then his teammate Jimmy Wardle is adding 13.9 points per game. This team has two big games coming up, playing some 5A teams this week: Valor Christian and Pine Creek.
3. Harrison
This Harrison team has had an impressive season only losing to Pueblo West. Their star player Donta Dawson is leading the team averaging 21.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. Then his teammate Tayzean Archuleta has stepped up recently averaging 16.6 points in the last five games. This week they have a decent Widefield team coming up.
2. Mead
This Mead team with only one loss on the season they deserve to be on top. I believe this is the most stacked team in 4A. They have two sophomore starters, 6’11 James “JP” Shiers and shooter Elijah Kundsen. They also have one of the best athletes in the state, Trey Ward, who I got to see over the weekend, he can really jump out of the gym. This team beat their rival in Frederick tonight, who are a top twenty 4A team.
1. Cheyenne Mountain
Cheyenne Mountain being the only undefeated team deserves the top spot. Their team is built around New Mexico commit Javonte Johnson who has deserved the number two spot in our 2020 rankings. This year he is leading 4A in scoring averaging 26.6 points per game. His running mate Wade Jones is out with a wrist injury which hurts the team, but once he comes back they will be back in full form. They had a huge win against Sand Creek this week, who is a top ten team.
