Catalina Foothills comes in at #1 after defeating Salpointe Catholic. SC was looked at as hands down the best team in 4A so big props to Catalina Foothills for taking down their rival. The AIA rankings have Catalina Foothills as #2 but I felt that any team that takes down Salpointe Catholic was more than deserving of the #1 spot.
#2 Arcadia 11-0
Arcadia is currently the AIA #1 team in their power rankings. They come in at #2 for us. I explained the reasoning behind this above. I felt that Catalina Foothills deserved it for taking down the then #1 team in 4A. Arcadia is right on the heels of Catalina Foothills.
#3 Salpointe Catholic 10-1
After suffering their first loss of the season, Salpointe Catholic find themselves at #3. They are still a top team in 4A and I still think they’ll win state. Don’t go into panic mode here! It was just one loss. Regroup, re-focus, and go out and win games. Behind the senior leadership of Evan Nelson, I am confident they’ll be fine!
#4 Peoria 12-0
Peoria comes in at #4. In the AIA rankings, they are #3. Peoria is a really talented team but I felt Salpointe Catholic shouldn’t drop from 1 to 4 after one close loss. Peoria is currently undefeated and just need to keep doing what they’ve been doing in order to be successful.
#5 St. Mary’s 11-1
St. Mary’s is a really good team and I think they are a little bit better than most people think. I think they could really get hot and make a run for the championship. As for right now, they are #5 in our rankings as well as the AIA rankings.
