Cameron Boozer, 6’10 F/C, Lanett: His frame screams Division 1 and his game does also. Many people get it confused thinking that D1 means high major, but there are also mid and low majors that play for the same hardware as the big boys. When it comes to one-half of the Boozer twins I’m sure its a D1 out there for him. His size and ability will make it hard for some coaches to pass up on, because like the old saying goes “You can’t teach size,” and Cameron has plenty of that.
Shannon Grant, 6’10 C, Sylacagua: Another big body post with soft hands and really good feet. He finishes very well around the rim in traffic and is a complete space-eater in the painted area on both ends of the floor. Still raw with not having many years of playing under his belt some coach who really has his eyes set on a true big will benefit from his services.
Jonnivius Smith, 6’10 F/C, Crestwood Prep: Not use to having this many 6’10 guys in our state in one class, but here is the third. He is also raw on the offensive end of the floor, but you can see his development over the last several years. With interest from IUPUI, Iona, and Grambling look for whoever is able to land him to get a guy he will be very productive over the next 4+ years.
Andres Burney, 6’8 PF, Pike County: This long rangy athlete has a motor like a 69 Chevelle. He is relentless on the defensive end and challenges everything at the rim. His 6’9 frame does not limit him to playing in the paint. He has the ability to shoot the ball from the outside and can put it on the floor to get by his defender in the half-court. He runs really well in the open court and can finish over any defender if they choose to contest. Look for his recruitment to ramp up as he gets out to showcases and is able to get more looks from recruiters.
Tavion Williams, 6’7 F, Parker: He fits the mold of the new age pick-and-pop power forward. He is a lean and muscular athlete that looks great getting off the bus but backs it up once on the court. He is a very good rebounder and has strength and ability around the rim. He can step out and shot the 15-17-foot jump shot and with added work could be comfortable stretching his range out to the 3-point line. This will be a steal for any low-major, Juco, or D2 that can get there hands on this prospect.
