Carter Whitt vs. Bobby Pettiford Jr. delivered on every front
The anticipated matchup between Carter Whitt and Bobby Pettiford Jr. was an exciting one as Whitt finished with 22 points, five rebounds and four assists for Leesville Road and Pettiford finished with 21 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals for South Granville. Both players showed why they’re considered top prospects in the 2021 class of North Carolina and stepped up to the challenge of facing each other.
Micah Jones is a true competitor in the backcourt
Unsigned senior Micah Jones had a solid outing for the Vikings, putting up 19 points, three rebounds and an assist on three made 3-pointers. Jones is just scratching the surface when it comes to his ability to create for himself. He’s a prospect that will get some looks from local colleges by season’s end.
Wy’kise Allen continues to show consistency
Wy’kise Allen is another senior for South Granville with tons of ability. Allen asserted himself well on the floor with 11 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals. He’s drawn interest from the likes of Chowan and Averett in recent months and continues to show consistency on the floor. He does a lot of the dirty work, rebounding and forcing steals in the paint for the Vikings and has shown he deserves some looks from college at the next level.
Deon Daniels double-double not enough
It was another big effort from Leesville Road senior Deon Daniels. Daniels stepped up for the Pride with 14 points and 11 rebounds in the backcourt for his squad. He showed he’s capable of hitting big shots and is slowly figuring out how to make an impact for a whole 32 minutes.
