Top Scorer: 2020 Guard Zavian McLean, Village Christian Academy
Zavian McLean finished with 33 points, 18 in the first half, 15 in the second half, and went 14-of-21 shooting from the field and 2-for-2 from behind the arc despite the result for Village Christian. McLean showed his explosion getting to the rim and his ability to finish in traffic with ease.
Top Rebounder: 2021 Guard/Wing Elijah Jamison, Louisburg
Elijah Jamison posted 13 rebounds (2 offensive) to lead all players in the City of Oaks Classic. Jamison has been playing off the ball a lot more for Louisburg which has allowed for him to rebound the ball more. He’s averaging 13.4 rebounds per contest on the year.
Versatile Threat: 2021 Guard Bobby Pettiford Jr., South Granville
Bobby Pettiford Jr. put on a show with his near triple-double for South Granville. Pettiford filled up the stat sheet with 21 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and two steals. He made his presence felt throughout the Vikings win. He’s a near triple-double performer every time he steps on the floor.
Playmaker: 2022 Point Guard Nik Graves, Durham Academy
Durham Academy got a strong performance from 2022 point guard Nik Graves who finished with 11 points and 10 assists. He orchestrated a solid game on offense with his ability to control the pace and make things happen at the point guard spot. He had just one turnover in the game as well.
Rim Protector: 2020 Forward Evan Joyner, Piedmont Classical
Piedmont Classical has quite the paint presence in 2020 forward Evan Joyner. Joyner put up eight rebounds and three blocks to go along with seven points and three assists in the Bobcats victory. He’s finding his way as a versatile threat in their rotation. He uses his length well at 6-foot-8 to alter shots and rebound the ball.
Sharpshooter: 2021 shooting guard Toby Harris, Durham Academy
2021 shooting guard Toby Harris is another prospect for Durham Academy that’s climbing up the radar. He put up 14 points on 4-of-9 from behind the arc in their overtime victory over Village Christian. Harris made the go-ahead 3-pointer as time winded down to the final seconds then turned around and made the final stop on defense. He’s a confident shooter from 3-point land at 6-foot-4 that’s finding his way on the defensive end as well.
