Massanutten rides Brown early
In the post-graduate matchup of the 2020 Chance Harman Classic, Massanutten Military Academy faced off against Huntington Prep. Things got ugly in a hurry for Huntington Prep as 17 early points from Tyson Brown gave Massanutten a 33-16 lead at halftime. Huntington was 6-of-32 (18.8 percent) shooting as a team in the first half and never fully recovered.
Tyson Brown shows out
Massanutten got a big game from senior forward Tyson Brown as he finished with 40 points and 14 rebounds (5 offensive) to power his squad to a big win over Huntington Prep’s Regional team. He finished with 23 points in the second half after opening 8-of-10 from the field in the first. He stood out with his activity and efficiency from the field (19-of-25) with a complete game on the offensive end. He’s fit in well since moving to Massanutten from Kempsville High School. Brown holds offers from numerous Division 1 programs while drawing interest from a few more.
Touba Troare nearly snags 20 rebounds
Unsigned senior Touba Troare was just two rebounds shy of snagging 20 with 18 rebounds in Massanutten’s victory over Huntington Prep. Troare is a 6-foot-11 paint protector that showed what he can do with 13 defensive rebounds and four blocks in the starting rotation for Massanutten. He’s a long defender to watch in Virginia’s senior class.
Benez Woodward fills up the stat sheet
Unsigned senior Benez Woodward was another prospect that stood out with his ability to score in the paint and rebound on the defensive end. He produced 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the runaway victory for Massanutten. He’s a 6-foot-3 guard that’s capable of competing on the floor.
Akot Aguer another unsigned gem
Huntington Prep forward Akot Aguer battled through foul trouble in the first half but he still managed to finish with 11 points and 13 rebounds with 11 rebounds coming in the second half. The 6-foot-9 big man is talented when engaged in the game and focused on making an impact.
