Victory Rock Prep opens the game hot on offense
Victory Rock opened the first quarter shooting with confidence, going 10-of-16 (62.5 percent) from the floor as a team. They held a 38-31 lead at halftime thanks to 11 points from 2021 guard Kevin Miller Jr. and nine points from 2020 forward Mohomadou Mbow. Mbow also snagged eight rebounds (4 offensive).
Robbie Boulton steps up big in the first half
2020 guard Robbie Boulton stepped up big for NW Guilford despite their early first-half deficit. Boulton was boosting with confidence in the first half as he put up 15 points on 3-of-3 shooting from behind the arc. His teammates, Rutger commit Dean Reiber and unsigned senior guard Christian Hampton had a combined 11 points as well.
Kevin Miller Jr. plays big in the second half for Victory Rock
2021 point guard Kevin Miller Jr. continued to find more success in the second half getting to the rim. He posted 17 points in the second half to finish with 28 points for Victory Rock Prep. Miller went 10-of-16 from the field while finishing with a game-high performance. He showed poise with some tough finishes at the rim and even went 7-for-9 from the free-throw line in a 80-75 victory.
Christian Hampton showed off his skillset
Unsigned senior Christian Hampton showed off his burst off the dribble and played bigger in the second half, finishing with 24 points, seven assists, four steals and three rebounds. He’s an intriguing prospect with his size, strength and athleticism at 6-foot-1. He can distribute, pass and score in the paint, all qualities of a point guard, so it remains to be seen if any schools offer him other than Mount Olive, Catawba and App State.
Mohomadou Mbow finishes with a double-double for Victory Rock
2020 forward Mohomadou Mbow finished the game with 15 points and 12 rebounds on 4-of-6 shooting and 7-of-9 shooting from the free throw line in the win. He’s a 6-foot-9 prospect that battled well in the paint against Dean Reiber, who also finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds for NW Guilford. Mbow is one to watch for Victory Rock with his ability to run the floor, rebound and attack the rim.
