With games beginning on December 26th, we are fully expecting another great year of basketball from this event and some players to stand out over those three days. Let’s jump right in and take a look at some of the players and teams that will be taking the court that we should keep an eye on.
Overhills Senior Guard Jase Ford: One of the leading scorers on the team, he has the ability to fill it up scoring wise at any given moment, which makes this team dangerous. He missed a few games early on this season but has seemed to find his rhythm already and will be one to keep an eye on.
Southern Durham Senior Guard Ricky Council IV: He holds a host of Mid Major offers at this point as well as high major interest and rightfully so. The 6’5 Guard can score the ball at a high level but also possesses outstanding athletic ability which we have seen time and time again over the years. The mixture of flair and substance that he brings to the table is something that you have to love to see, don’t be shocked to see him have a 30+ point performance in one of these games.
Lee County Freshman Guard Malachi Mclean: As the season has gone on, he has become more comfortable and it seems as if the game is slowing down for him. His ability to knock down the three point shot has been evident as well as his ability to read defenders and make the correct plays. The C/O 2023 is shaping up to be a good one in the state of NC and he is clearly a name that will be making noise in the years to come.
Southeast Raleigh Junior Guard Brone Brinson: At this point he’s leading his team in scoring at 13 PPG and will need to continue to be an important part to their offense as they try to improve their record. They have played some solid teams thus far so it will be interesting to see how they come in to this tournament confidence wise, as they have already been battled tested to a certain extent.
Lee County Senior Wing Jarrian Hancock: What is there not to like about a player that is a legit 6’5 with the ability to play multiple positions on both ends of the floor ? He’s a huge piece to the success of his high school squad and seems to embrace the leadership role that he has earned, college coaches should be keeping a close eye on him throughout this season.
East Chapel Hill Junior Forward Will Tyndall: The 6’4 forward has put up some very impressive numbers to start their season with averages of 20 points and 8 rebounds per night so far. Those numbers alone are pretty impressive but you also have to add in the fact that he’s doing this while shooting about 60% from the field.
