Westover started off the game hot, getting off to an early double digit lead, while Pine Forest would make a run in the second quarter cutting the lead down to five points. The teams would go back and forth in the 2nd half with Westover ultimately getting the win 70-60 to continue their undefeated record.
D’Marco Dunn is a top 10 player in the NC 2021 Class! If you’re a college coach on the D1 level, you will want to drop in and see him as he is quickly proving himself in the short amount of time that he’s been in NC. What we would classify him as, is simply a pure scorer that has a nice overall IQ for the game and plenty of upside left in his game. He led all scorers with 25 points on the night, and scored in just about every way possible, knocking down midrange and three point shots as well as getting to the basket, all while facing different types of defensive schemes throughout.
Darius Jewell is turning the corner as a player! Last season his role was more of a catch and shoot type player for the team but with continued work and some graduations, he has seen his role increase. Not only he has become one of the team’s leading scorers but he also does a nice job of making some nice passes when he’s able to force the defense to collapse. He didn’t have his best shooting night overall but he made some big buckets when it was needed, finishing with 18 points on the night.
Isaiah Washington has a chance to be very special! Anytime that you have a player who is a freshman, starting on a team that is undefeated and making contributions, you have to be intrigued. This was our second time seeing this young man this season and we left just as impressed if not even more with the way he performed. He got off to a slower start in the first half but really got going in the second half of the game when his team needed some offense, scoring 13 out of his 18 total points in that half.
Tristan Harkins is a three point specialist! He caught fire in the 2nd quarter, scoring 11 of his 23 total points in that period to help spark a nice run for his team. His three point shooting ability is what makes him special, he doesn’t need a ton of time to get his feet set and has deep range on his shot. He will be a prospect to watch over the next few years without a doubt as he is only a sophomore and already seeing major minuets.
Westover PG Isaiah Bridges is an X factor! You can’t measure the impact that he makes on a game by his stats, he does all the small things that you would want to see from a PG in high and on the college level. Defending, facilitating and being a true leader out on the court are all things that you will see from this young man. His shooting from outside has improved quite a bit since last season and he is one that colleges that are looking for a true PG should be keeping a close eye on.
