Here were some of the standouts from Friday’s four games:
Carson Kelly PG 5’8 2021 Chandler (Pictured)
-Undersized scoring PG who is tough. Scores it from all 3 levels with a nice pull-up from mid-range. He has nice court vision and is a quick on-ball defender. Despite his size he takes contact well and has a knack for getting to the FT line in bunches.
Nicholas Riley C 6’8 2021 Chandler (Pictured)
-A true big who plays with his back to the basket. He is a thick kid who has massive hands and can score it efficiently inside. He has a nice drop step move and can dunk off of it. He can shoot it from mid-range and in and has a decent touch on the FT line.
Mekhi Mason PG 6’2 2022 Chandler (Pictured)
-A long scoring PG who is outstanding on defense. He has good size for the position and uses his length, IQ and instincts to seemingly always be in the right spot. He isn’t a burner but uses his size and hesitations well to get past defenders. He has deep 3pt range and can pull-up off the dribble.
Griffin Lamb C 6’8 2020 Gilbert
-Back after a year off and looked better than ever. He has put on a little more weight, which he needed to, and is now facing up to the 3pt line. He still has his polished right hand hook shot, which is his clear go to move plus moves well from end to end. He has long arms and can flush it down but is mostly using his skill to get the job done. He is clearly the key to the season.
Anthony Irvin CG 6’3 2020 CDS
-The Purdue Northwest commit controlled the game from start to finish. Besides his usual scoring from all 3 levels he made much needed plays for his teammates. He really has improved his passing skills in the last year. He defends every opponents top player from PG’s to PF’s and is highly competitive plus plays with a high IQ.
Dwight McKnight PG 6’1 2021 Valley Vista
-Lightning fast PG who gets by his defender with a strong burst. He has good size and uses it inside the paint. He takes contact well and is very quick on-ball defender. He can make strides with his perimeter shooting.
