Jayden Nicholson 6’4″ Hazelwood Central: The powerful 2023 guard has been an immediate smash in his first two varsity games with 19 points in the first round and 20 points in the semifinals against University City. He is strong enough to power to the basket, yet he has the finesse game with handles and a 3-point stroke. He is one of the top freshman prospects in the state.
Jalen Hampton 6’5″ University City: The bouncy 2021 power forward scored 12 points and was a big factor on the offensive glass in the Lions’ two-point loss to Hazelwood Central. Hampton was also a factor on the defensive end with four blocked shots. He runs the court well and his second-jump ability is quick and decisive around the basket.
Larry Abbey 5’9″ University City: The thick-bodied 2022 point guard scored 14 points against Hazelwood Central while doing most of the ball handling. His handles are strong and he has the ability to get into the lane with a variety of escape moves. He also has excellent court vision with the ability to drop dimes at several different angles.
Jonathan Dunn 6’6″ Hazelwood Central: The athletic 2021 power forward scored 14 points and was a big factor along the baseline in the semifinals victory over University City. He is a strong finisher around the basket, whether it was by a dunk or a reverse layup in traffic. He plays with a high motor and he rebounds well out of his area at both ends.
Cole Farrell 6’4″ Hazelwood Central: One of the most athletic players in the state, the 2021 wing had the highlight reel play of the day with a big put-back slam dunk in the first half that got the crowd on its feet. He is a solid wing player who can attack the basket off the dribble and hit the offensive glass. He is excellent in the transition game as well.
Brandon Ming 6’4″ University City: The 2021 wing scored 12 points in the semifinals against Hazelwood Central. He is an excellent slashing threat who can attack the basket well. He was also a dominant offensive rebounder who put in a lot of work in that area and got the reward.
