Ryan Kalkbrenner 7’0″ Trinity: The Creighton signee was a dominant force at both ends in the Titans victory over Hazelwood East. He finished the night with 23 points, 19 rebounds and seven blocks. He had several dunks and also a pair of 3-pointers as he flashed his new and improved perimeter shooting skills. He pretty much carried his team in the first half until everyone got on the same page in the second half to break the game open.
Rashad Weekly-McDaniels 6’0″ Trinity: The physical Central Michigan signee scored 16 points in the victory over Hazelwood East. After a quiet first half, Weekly-McDaniels got busy in the second half as he attacked the basket and used his big body to overpower defenders on the way to the basket. He easily plays through contact and finishes well to get old-fashioned three-point plays.
Nate Garrett 6’5″ Hazelwood Central: The athletic wing player scored 10 points in the victory over University City. He is a talented offensive player who drained a long jumper from well beyond the 3-point line. He also scored on the smooth takes to the basket off the dribble. He has good size and his athleticism also shows on the defensive end as he blocked a couple of shots and had a steal with his length.
David Roberts 6’2″ Hazelwood Central: The veteran guard is a bulldog on defense and he proved it on the game’s final possession, where his steal preserved the victory and the Hawks spot in the championship game. He is physically strong and he has a passion for guarding people. On offense, he was at this best when attacking the basket. He finished the game with eight points, including a couple of free throws in the closing seconds.
T.J. Rush 6’1″ Trinity: The Miami of Ohio football recruit scored 11 points in the victory over Hazelwood East. He looked very effective on the offensive end, despite just joining the basketball team after football season. In the decisive third-quarter run, he drained a couple of corner 3-pointers. He is a talented offensive player who can also score off the bounce.
Jordan Gilmore 6’4″ Hazelwood East: The veteran wing player came off the bench to score a team-high 14 points in the loss to Trinity. He had a nice stroke from 3-point range and also a pretty good mid-range jumper to go along with it. He had both working on Thursday night.
