Mrus is an exceptional player that is tall and lanky but could shoot over defenders, pass the ball effectively. and could shoot the ball behind the arc pretty well. He gives Seattle a spark when they need it on the defensive end and is the main factor in their offense.
The factors that Mrus needs to improve in is his ability to dominate the painted area. He takes a lot of outside shots instead of backing down his defender and taking a higher percentage shot. Even though he is lanky, he needs to take advantage of his defenders’ size and shoot over them. He has the height advantage, so why not back the defender down and make the opponent decide whether to double team him or not. If the double team comes, Mrus can kick it out to his teammates for a better shot selection. In due time, Mrus will figure it out and when he does his numbers will increase. He can easily average 15 points and 5 rebounds a game.
The factor that sets him apart from other small forwards is his dribbling ability. He is exceptionally good at making the right plays playing in the half-court set. As the season progresses, Mrus will be one of the candidates that Seattle will be talking about.
Right now Seattle Prep is 2-1 and faces Garfield Dec. 13.
