Francis Howell was impressive in defeating Rock Bridge 64-51 in the championship game. Troy defeated McCluer North for third place while Hazelwood West defeated Wentzville Holt in the consolation final. Both of those games went down to the wire.
Here is a look at the Top Dogs from the final night at the Troy Tournament:
Matt Schark 6’4″ Francis Howell: The powerhouse 2020 forward was dominant in leading the Vikings to the championship. He averaged 28 points in Howell’s three victories. In the championship game, he dished out dimes to open shooters as Rock Bridge double teamed him. In the second half, he scored at Will in the paint with his footwork and great touch around the basket.
Preston Fortner 5’9″ Francis Howell: The speedy 2021 point guard scored 14 points in the victory over Rock Bridge. He is playing with a tremendous amount of confidence as he plays with excellent pace and tempo. He has a nice pull up jumper and he can knock down 3-pointers.
Xavier Sykes 5’7″ Rock Bridge: The small 2021 combo guard is a bucket as he can create offense from just about anywhere on the court. He has nice handles and shifty moves to create shots off the dribble. He can also knock down jumpers from deep.
Braden Nett 6’3″ Troy: A resourceful 2020 wing who led the Trojans to a third place win over McCluer North. He displayed his versatility as he played everywhere on the court. He was a clutch performer down the stretch as he hit the go-ahead 3-pointer in the final minute and had a game clinching block on the defensive end.
Charles Wilson 6’1″ Rock Bridge: A versatile 2020 guard who plays much bigger than his actual size With his toughness and high motor. He can handle the ball and attack the basket but he also put in some work in the high post. He had a game high 14 rebounds in the semifinals victory over McCluer North
