Trinity runs away with things in the fourth
It was a game that looked like Trinity Academy would run away with early, as they led but a number of big runs would keep Salem Baptist Christian in the game. The Tigers finally created enough distance in the fourth with a 7-0 run, with the score a 58-53 to begin the quarter. In the end, it was enough as 2021 guard Tyler Gill set up 2020 guard Jake Bertolini-Felice in the corner for a final 3-pointer that gave them the final result.
Tyler Gill controlled the pace well
2021 point guard Tyler Gill put together quite the game with 24 points and 10 assists for Trinity Academy. Gill did well to create off the dribble and cash in on his shot in the mid-range to pace the Tigers on offense for their second victory in conference play. He’s a point guard that turned heads with his ability on Friday night and should get some looks from colleges looking for a natural floor general.
Noah Ross set the tone
In the first half, 2022 guard Noah Ross looked unconscious from the floor. Ross scored 18 of his 20 points in the first half of the game. He got to the free-throw line, he got to the rim, he crashed the glass. At 6-foot-5, he showed off his ability to do more than just score points. Now, he’ll just need to put two halves of that type of energy together to really hit the next level.
Zach Shumate is a solid post presence
The Vikings struggled in the first half to put together points, but 2020 forward Zach Shumate was one of their consistent players in the frontcourt, especially in their run in the second half. Shumate finished with 21 points and eight rebounds and played a key role in their comeback, especially in the third quarter as they outscored Trinity, 19-12, and cut into their deficit. He’s a post prospect with good fundamentals and size in the post.
Shad Thomas was another spark in the frontcourt
2021 forward Shad Thomas is another player that was spark in the frontcourt for Salem Baptist Christian. He really came alive and played a key role in their run in the second half and poured in 10 of his 18 total points in the second half. He’s quick on the defensive end and knows how to get to the rim with the ball in his hands. He’s another forward prospect to keep an eye on going forward.
