The six-game event featured match-ups of some of the best that Southern California and Las Vegas have to offer. Here is the second set of top prospects from the fifth game of the day: Bishop Gorman vs. San Gabriel Academy.
Braden Lamar, Bishop Gorman
Lamar was most definitely one of the more under-appreciated prospects in the entire event, not just this single game alone. The 6-foot-6 senior wing has an all-around skill set on the offensive end with his ability to stretch the floor from 3-point range and finish through and above contact around the basket. Lamar is much more athletic than he looks on first glance and has the ability to rise up for above the rim finishes. Lamar finished with 14 points in the win over San Gabriel Academy.
Johnny Braggs, Bishop Gorman
Braggs is a physical transition athlete who uses his explosiveness and strength for strong paint finishes both above the rim and through contact. The 6-foot-3 junior isn’t as consistent of a jump shooter as he needs to be at the two-guard or small forward positions, but he gets good lift on his jumper and has fluid shooting mechanics at the mid-range level. Braggs has the ability to guard positions 1-3 on the high school level and is a good rebounder for his size and position.
J.T. Langston, San Gabriel Academy
Langston has an intriguing combination of size, length and athleticism which he uses best to score in transition. The 6-foot-8 senior uses his long strides and vast wingspan to glide down the floor and get to the rim with ease where he can finish with either hand. Langston is still a raw overall prospect, but has some next level ability.
Alassane Sene, San Gabriel Academy
Sene is an active and athletic center who uses his size and length to act as a rim protector for the Eagles. The 6-foot-10 senior gets off the floor quickly for shot blocks and shot contests, rebounds and outlets to his guards, and runs the floor with purpose. Sene is best as a defensive center and rebounder and has a lot of work to do on the offensive end of the floor.
Christian Bento, Bishop Gorman
Bento was playing in his first action for the Gaels after transferring to the Vegas-based program from Great Oak in Temecula and it was easy to see he was still finding his way with the team. The 6-foot-11 center has two things going for him: First is his mobility at his size and second is the fact that he plays so hard when his number is called. Bento has a lot of upside as a defensive center with some offensive tools that can be worked with in the right college program.
