The six-game event featured match-ups of some of the best that Southern California and Las Vegas have to offer. Here are the first set of top prospects from the fifth game of the day: Bishop Gorman vs. San Gabriel Academy.
Zaon Collins, Bishop Gorman
Collins is widely considered one of the top point guard prospects in the country and nothing at this event said otherwise. The 6-foot-1 junior embodies the “floor general” term with his ability to control the pace of the game with his high basketball IQ and anticipation on both sides of the floor. Collins is a high level on-ball defender and knows when to push the pace on offense and pull the ball out and run offense.
Will McClendon, Bishop Gorman
McClendon has good size for the wing position at 6-feet-4 to go along with his strong frame. The junior is a high level 3-point shooter with deep range and a quick trigger. Based on what we’ve seen over the last few years, McClendon has improved his shot selection and ability to create shots for himself off the bounce.
Boubacar Coulibaly, San Gabriel Academy
Coulibaly had one of the more impressive individual performances of the day despite the loss, scoring 20 points to go along with 16 rebounds. The 6-foot-10 senior center rebounds well both in and out of his area and is active on the offensive glass. Coulibaly is a high level transition athlete who runs the floor with purpose and has good touch around the basket.
Mwani Wilkinson, Bishop Gorman
Wilkinson’s recruitment took off over the summer and it’s easy to see why. The 6-foot-5 forward is a bouncy athlete with a strong frame, both of which he uses to elevate and finish over or through contact in the paint. Wilkinson has the ability to guard multiple positions because of his combination of strength, athleticism and lateral speed. His all-around offensive package is still a work in progress, but his shooting mechanics have improved over the last year and he gets great lift on his mid-range jumper.
Ian McCloskey, San Gabriel Academy
McCloskey is an experienced varsity contributor who hits the open 3-point shot with consistency. The senior moves well without the ball, sets up and comes off of screens to get himself open looks and can attack a bad closeout with the dribble and find teammates with drive-and-kick passes.
