Located in the southern most part of New Jersey, Gloucester County sits west near Philadelphia and pumps out talent every season. There are players in all grades that have high hopes of one day playing college basketball. Heading into the season, these are some of the top prospects coming out of the conference.
Keon Sabb (2022) | 6’3 SF | Glassboro
Sabb is not only one of the top prospects in the Tri-County Conference, he is arguably the best athlete in the conference. And he has only played one high school season. Sabb averaged north of 20 points per game as a freshman on his way to 523 points. He is also a standout on the football field with offers from Rutgers, Pitt, Penn State, Maryland, Temple, and NC State. Sabb is only going to get better in both sports and that is a scary thing for opponents.
Kavon Lewis (2020) | 5’9 PG | Penns Grove
Sometimes talent is more important than size. At 5’9, Lewis has shown that throughout his career at Penns Grove. Lewis is a standout on the football field at the quarterback position. Lewis finished with 34 touchdowns passes and five 300 yard games as a sophomore. On the basketball court, Lewis scored in double-figures in every game last season and finished with 510 points. This is a talented player who is going to have a big senior season.
Trey Simmons (2022) | 5’10 PG | Delsea
The class of 2022 is well represented in the Tri-County Conference. It starts with Sabb and continues with Simmons. He was a contributor on an 18 win team last season as a freshman. Simmons showed the ability to score which he did at a high rate. Simmons also showed his ability to be a true point guard and make the right decisions with the ball. He will take a significant jump in each season over the next three years of his career.
Justin Gibson (2021) | 5’9 SG | Clayton
Clayton won 21 games last season but just five in division play which landed them in second place. They were led by three seniors who all scored over 500 points. Gibson led the underclassmen in scoring. He scored in double-figures nine times as a sophomore and is expected to take a big step this season. Losing three key players means that Clayton will need Gibson to be an even bigger contributor this season.
Ryan Roney (2021) | 6’0 SG | Gloucester Catholic
Roney was a sophomore standout for Gloucester Catholic last season. He scored 20 or more points three times including a season-high 28 in a 92-90 loss to Clayton. Roney was an extremely efficient scorer who could get it done from anywhere on the floor. As a junior, Roney will look to take his game to the next level for a talented Gloucester Catholic team.
