Here are the top prospects from the game.
Sean Pedulla 2021 Edmond Memorial
Pedulla is a Division 1 prospect who should be addressed as such. It’s taking college coaches a little longer to realize but the junior guard continues to show why he belongs.
Pedulla was the best player on the floor for the Edmond Open championship. His jumper was falling and he used that threat to open up lanes to the basket.
Its crazy how he finds ways to get around his defender and make the right play.
Pedulla also showed his ability to get on the glass and also come up with loose balls. The junior guard got three open breakaway layups due to his defensive timing to end up with the steal.
JV Seat 2022 Edmond Memorial
There are only a handful of players in the state who can realistically try to stop JV Seat and even then he is going to get his.
He has obvious strength but what makes him special is his light fight. He has such good footwork that he is always on balance which even increases his power moves around the rim.
In the Edmond Open championship, Seat also showed off his excellent touch from the perimeter as he hit a three and he also hit a pull up jumper.
Think of Glen “Big Baby” Davis when he was at LSU. That’s what it looks like when Seat is throwing guys around down low.
Landry Harris 2021 Edmond North
Despite the loss, Harris played well for the Huskies. He was the best player on the court wearing blue and white. North was never into a rhythm until Harris came into the game and took the majority of ballhandling responsibilities.
It’s always fun seeing a heady point guard go about using their creativity to cultivate opportunities for their teammates and thats what Harris did.
North was getting blown out until Harris took the ball and led the way. He got to the rim consistently and to start the comeback Harris either scored or assisted on three straight baskets. He never go sped up and just let the plays develop.
Harris also showed that can defend as he guarded Pedulla and did a pretty good job keep him in front.
The junior point guard has a bright future.
Keyshon Spotwood 2021 Edmond Memorial
Spotwood was a force on both ends of the floor tonight. The junior wing created numerous deflections which often turned into points for the Bulldogs.
To get the victory against a good Edmond North team, Memorial needed another player other than Pedulla and Seat to step up and that’s what Spotwood did.
Every time you looked up he was Spotwood was around the basketball rather it was loose rebounds or him shooting the passing lane and getting a steal.
He has the athleticism and feel for the game that suggests that this can be a consistent performer for the rest of the season.
Abraham Aghasedo 2021 Edmond North
It was fun to watch Aghasedo and JV Seat go at on the block. You could tell that Aghasedo wasn’t scared of his opponent and he went right at him.
Aghasedo’s go-to move is his right hand hook over his left shoulder. He used this move affectively as he converted around the rim.
At 6’6, he just had to take his time and execute the move because there was no one on the floor who was going to block him.
He also had a strong showing on defense versus Seat during North’s comeback. Aghasedo stood strong then he used his length to make Seat shoot over him.
The junior big man is the X-factor to the Huskies season and tonight he showed glimpses of what he can become.
Dalante Shannon 2021 Edmond North
It was a rough one for Shannon as he couldn’t get going offensively. The Bulldogs did a good job of staying on him and no letting him get open looks.
Every ballscreen he used was met with multiple defenders and endless communication on the backend.
Shannon just couldn’t get in rhythm but he also couldn’t get down hill without drawing 4 other defenders. His outstanding passing ability was under wraps tonight due to the fact that Memorial was scrambling well on defense.
Shannon is too good of a player to let this happen two games in a row so I expect him to come out big their next game. There wasn’t a more talented player on the floor than Shannon but it just wasn’t his night.
