Top Players of the Week (Week 3)
Last week’s list wasn’t as long as other lists in the past, but this week’s list is much longer.
Players from across the state of Tennessee put up solid numbers.
I’m not about to talk your heads off. I just want to get right to it.
Here are the top players of the week:
Duane Posey, Memphis East: The senior forward had 18 points in the 74-62 win over Bartlett Tuesday night. He followed up that performance with a 23-point, 13-rebound outing in a home win Friday night against Wooddale. Isaiah Cathey had 15, Terrance Jacobs Jr. 13, Tadarius Jacobs 12 and Kylan Haywood 10 against the Panthers. Freshman guard Woody Harvey had 19 points in the win over the Cardinals.
Caleb Smith, Fayette Academy: The junior guard had 20 points in the Vikings’ 91-39 win over MHA. Ryan Parks and Austin Abernathy were big time as well, finishing with 25 and 23 points, respectively.
Jayden Williams, FACS: Williams had 18 points and 10 rebounds in the 54-51 win over MUS. TJ Thomas had 17 points and seven rebounds.
Rodney Mason Jr., Bartlett: The senior forward had 19 points in the Panthers’ road loss at Memphis East. Ricky Lofties had 13, and Will Farris provided 10.
Marquon Dean, Overton: Dean had 25 points in the 82-73 win over Kirby. Jason Coleman added 11. In the 75-60 win over Tipton-Rosemark Academy, Coleman led the way with 17 points. Jakel Williams had 14. Dean had 13, and Kam’ron Crump provided 12.
Dean also had 13 in the 69-63 loss to Fayette Ware in the Rickey Fayne Classic. Elijah Sandridge provided 12 in the loss.
Kaeden Laws, Center Hill: The junior wing had 32 points and 11 rebounds in the 93-64 win over Oxford. Decorian Payton added 21 points and 16 rebounds. DeShun Dunn added 11. Jacquez Hardin provided 10. In the 94-72 win over Southaven, Payton had another double-double (29 points and 21 rebounds). Hardin had 23. Laws also had another double-double (21 points and 15 rebounds).
Bwerani Johnson Jr., Freedom Prep: The junior combo guard had 19 points, 12 rebounds, seven steals and seven assists in the 86-81 win over Germantown. Bakari Johnson added 16 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals. Johnson Jr. had 27 points, 10 rebounds, 10 steals and five assists in the 98-47 win over Bluff City.
Amarr Knox, Memphis Central: The sophomore guard had 30 points in the Warriors’ win over Bolton. Xavier Joubert had 25 points in the win.
Jamarius Carter, Bolton: The sophomore guard had 14 points in the Wildcats’ loss at Memphis Central. Seniors Terrance Banks and Ricky Williams had 11. Sophomore guard Cornelius Collins added 10.
Justin Borders, Cordova: The senior point guard had 21 points in the 71-61 win over Bolivar. K’Juan Banks had 16. Calvin Jennings provided 14, and Markelion Hines provided 10. Jennings had 18 points in the 52-49 win over ECS. Jordan Hamilton added 11 in the win.
Jamari Johnson, PCA: Johnson had 28 points, six steals, six assists and five rebounds in the 72-68 win over Fairley. Christian Sweet added 12 points, eight rebounds and three steals. LeKendrick Rogers provided 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Amarion Jones, Westwood: Jones had 26 points, seven assists and five steals in the 67-57 win over Sheffield. Terrion Whiting had 22 points and 11 rebounds.
Tyler Fitzpatrick, Fayette Ware: The junior guard had 12 points in the 69-63 win over Overton in the Rickey Fayne Classic. Phillip Horton and Trey Henderson each had 11. Taki Walker, who was named MVP, finished with nine.
Kennedy Chandler, Briarcrest: The junior point guard had 35 points in the overtime win over Male. Marcellus Brigham Jr. added 21. Rodney Newsom Jr. had 17.
Matthew Schneider, Siegel: The junior wing had 24 points in the win over White County. Zion Swader had 20, and Jaylan Wetzel added 13.
Jaylon Sanders, Collierville: The senior guard had 32 points and five assists in the win over Purdue Poly School.
Daveonne Warfield, Kirby: Warfield had the game-high 27 points in the loss to Overton.
Harrison Kelly, Christian Brothers: Kelly had 21 points in the 61-46 win over Montgomery Bell Academy. Reese McMullen provided 18. Eli Federman added 10. Kelly was the leading scorer with 10 in the Purple Wave’s 42-39 win over Pope John Paul II.
Toris Woods, Bolivar: Woods led his team with 19 points in the loss against Cordova. Jeff Norment added 13.
Cameron Matthews, Olive Branch: The senior wing had 21 points and 17 rebounds in a road win at Houston. Wes Taylor added 17 points and eight rebounds.
Chauncey Holmes, Kingsbury: Holmes had 13 points in the win over Ridgeway. Devin Jackson and Ahmed Abdulahi had 12. Caleb Jackson provided 11.
Javar Daniel, Arlington: The freshman big man had 12 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Collierville. Junior guard Madison Peaster added 13 points, four assists and two steals. Dontae Stringer added 10 points, eight rebounds, two steals and one block.
Hadden Burgess, ECS: Burgess had 19 points in the home loss against Cordova. Kameron Jones added 16. Grayson Saunier provided 11.
