Again the Arby’s Classic, a fixture on the holiday hoop schedule, collected exceptional coaches, teams, and gritty, devoted players in one event. Beyond the team results there emerged numerous stars Friday day and night. Tennessee-based teams that competed Friday include: Hampton, Tennessee, Knoxville Webb School, Bartlett.
“Game 8” did not include a team from Tennessee and this article will exclude those two teams.
Read about the top-performing wings below.

Morgan Lyons (Hampton)
The offensive impact of Morgan Lyons (7 points) was minimal and the sophomore missed as many free throws as he made (5-10), but he invested physically against a imposing frontcourt.
McHale Bright (Tennessee)
Grinder. McHale Bright and his Vikings could have collapsed and wilted after the frequent Alabama State Champions Mountain Brook stomped all over their first quarter dreams. The unfriendly guests opened up 11-1 and it took McHale consistently probing, searching, moving to create any semblance of offense. It took some time for sure, but Tennessee High arrived at 21-21 early in the second quarter with confidence and vocal support. Bright deserves much credit for the Vikings weathering the storm. Tennessee High took a lead at 28-27 on a gorgeous stagger-step by Bright followed by Bright’s open-floor offensive putback to enlarge it to 30-27. McHale finished with 16 points on 6-10 shooting. The team was physically drained in the third quarter, likely from the ferocious Spartan defense.
Luke Burnett (Knoxville Webb)
Absurdly consistent outside shooter. Still adding some mid-range maneuvers, but he works and works on his craft. The results are beautiful to watch. Webb ran a flawless offensive set to open the second half. Burnett came high off a screen and caught and buried a glorious triple with that trademarked high arch. Burnett scored 10 points in the opening half.
Lukas Walls (Knoxville Webb)
Walls is a freshman revelation. Nimble at 6-foot-2 and growing. Walls is an exceptionally versatile wing, already perfectly comfortable against varsity basketball defenders. Walls can shoot from deep, but does not lack the handles to step into a jumper or two. His defense is surprisingly passable despite giving up 2-3 years of physical maturation to most opposing guards. Walls is a player with a bright future and his team gets to enjoy his already tingling present.
Colby Jones (Mountain Brook-AL)
Colby Jones finished with 25 points on 55% shooting. He also poked free 5 steals. Technician for a defensive-brained Head Coach Bucky McMillan. Jones is everything a role player should be, except he is the star. Talented and yet he works and grinds and commits. Jones was fantastic, as usual. Xavier University will be his college home.
