Here were some of the seniors who stood out:
Dayton Harris PG 6’3 Skyline
-One of the top guards in the AIA led the way at the McClintock Shootout with some gaudy numbers. Essentially leading his team in every category besides maybe rebounds. What impressed me is his defense has been just as good as his passing ability. He is the best passer in 6A and he is showing that he may be the best on-ball defender as well. His perimeter shooting has improved and gets into the lane and makes others better seemingly whenever he wants. He is a the clear POY currently as we sit today.
Chance Garland PG/SF 6’5 McClintock (Pictured)
-Arguably one of the best passers in 5A and is a true point forward and he may play the PG spot in college. Has incredible measurables with size, speed and freaky athleticism. He flies in transition and scores it inside with a burst to the basket. His best skill easily is his passing. He gets by his man with his tight handle and makes laser pinpoint passes to teammates. He whips it right in the shooting pocket and sees plays developing quickly.
Tanner Poeschl PF 6’6 Skyline
-Long and lean forward who moves like a wing. He is very quick and covers a lot of ground on defense. He can make the 3pt shot plus drive to the basket and score it. His versatility helps out Harris and is invaluable for his teams success.
Tyree Tyler F 6’5 Skyline
-High motored forward is very strong near the basket. He battles hard for rebounds and the lefty can hit the catch 3 with some consistency. He can score on hook shots inside and straight line drives. His toughness, motor and athleticism to defend multiple positions make him a nice prospect.
Cameron Faas SF 6’5 Arcadia
-Highly skilled bigger wing forward is an under the radar senior. He has a pure stroke from the 3pt line and from mid-range. He can use the floater and is an efficient scorer. He is a good rebounder in area and is sneaky athletic to throw it down.
Anthony Giliberto PF 6’8 Paradise Valley
-A long shooter from the perimeter who is improving quickly inside. He has a consistent hook shot and has the softest hands. He catches every pass inside and rebounds well because of it. He can face-up to to the 3pt line and seems to grab any rebound near him and out of area as well. He put up some amazing numbers this week.
Griffin Lamb C 6’8 Gilbert
-Another good showing from Lamb. He grabs rebounds in his area at a good rate and scores it efficiently in the post with his polished hook shot. He can block shots and is slowly taking his game to the 3pt line. He has good hands to catch passes in traffic.
Armani Williams SG 6’3 McClintock
-One of the strongest non post players in the state. Has incredible lower body strength and looks like a RB out there. He crashes the boards at high level and uses his strong hands to pick his opposing pockets. He is a streaky 3pt shooter but made three in the game I viewed.
Christian Valle SG 6’2 Hamilton
-One of the better catch shooters had another great shooting night. He made 4 of 5 attempts from the 3pt line and also showed that he can score it from inside as well. He rebounded the ball and scored it near the basket. He was the lone bright spot in the Chavez defeat.
