Leesville Road/Millbrook draws a crowd of college coaches
Millbrook High School’s gymnasium was the place to be for a number of college coaches on Tuesday night. Notre Dame, George Washington, Virginia Tech, NC State, Wake Forest, App State, UNC-Pembroke, and Richard Bland College were all out to see a number of talented prospects in the Leesville Road/Millbrook game. It was a sight to behold seeing the crowd turn out from both teams but even more refreshing to see coaches out getting a look at talent from all levels.
Granville Central/Louisburg duel it out
The final score was Granville Central 86 – Louisburg 67 but don’t let the score fool you. Terence Harcum Jr. and Elijah Jamison had quite the duel in a face off of top guards in the 2021 class. Harcum finished with 39 points, 9-of-9 from the free throw line and four 3-pointers. Jamison posted 41 points with 17 of his points coming from the free throw line. He had just 16 points at halftime. It was certainly a game to watch and just shows why Harcum is starting to draw interest from the likes of Virginia Tech. Jamison holds offers from Elon, James Madison and Ole Miss.
Farmville Central upsets Word of God
In the Good Guys vs. Cancer Classic this past weekend, the Farmville Central Jaguars defeated the Word of God Holy Rams 66-64. It was quite the upset for the Jaguars as they trailed for much of the game before getting a heroic performance from 2020 guard Justin Wright. Wright put up 26 points, a game-high, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with a few minutes left in the game. NC Central is getting a steal in their 2020 recruiting class with Justin Wright. Unsigned senior Samage Teel also posted 22 points in the victory.
Jajuan Carr continues to go off
2020 Pender guard Jajuan Carr continues to make an impact on the hardwood. He was another top performer at the Good Guys vs. Cancer event as well, posting 24 points and 30 points across two games but he also posted 48 points and five steals in Pender’s 91-77 victory over East Carteret on Tuesday night. He’s put up 30, 31, 24, 30 and 48 points in his last five appearances for Pender High School. Carr just keeps on getting better as the season improves and he continues to reap the rewards. He recently received an offer from Presbyterian College while holding offers from East Carolina, USC-Upstate and Rider.
South Granville remains unbeaten
The South Granville Vikings have quietly climbed to an 8-0 record heading into the holiday season. They’ve got four players currently putting up double figures for them led by 2021 guard Bobby Pettiford Jr.( 21.4 ppg). Behind him, 2020 guard Micah Jones is producing 20.4 points per game on 39 percent shooting from 3-point land. 2020 wing/forward Wy’kise Allen is putting up 14.4 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Their surprise player has been 2022 wing Collin Tanner, who’s putting up 11.1 points per game on 37 percent shooting from behind the arc. As they begin conference play, the Vikings will be a team to watch, especially at the 2A level.
