The Word of God Holy Rams had quite the performance on the national stage at the National High School Hoops Festival at DeMatha High School this past weekend. Michigan commit Isaiah Todd led the way for them with 21 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Bishop Walsh (MD) while 2020s Quandre Bullock and Chase Forte had productive weekends as well.
Forte produced 13 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals in their win over Bishop Walsh while Bullock brought the house down with a number of big dunks, finishing with 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field. It will be interesting to see how their recruiting heats up now. 2022 wing Po’Boigh King averaged 14.0 points per game while making eight 3-pointers across their two games.
First Flight seniors continue to shine
First Flight High School got big nights from seniors Jordan High and Dylan Blake as they combined to score 85 of the team’s 87 points in an 87-80 overtime victory over Hickory (VA). High knocked down five 3-pointers while scoring 43 points for the Nighthawks. Blake knocked down six 3-pointers while scoring 42 points. It was milestone night for High as he surpassed the 1,000-point scoring mark for his career at First Flight. The First Flight duo is currently averaging 45.4 points per game while shooting lights out from 3-point range. College coaches will want to keep a note on them. They’ll be playing in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic this weekend at First Flight High School.
Elijah Jamison posts his first triple-double of the year
2021 guard Elijah Jamison put up his first triple-double of the season with Elon University in attendance on Tuesday night. Jamison put up 35 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists as Louisburg took home a 79-64 win over Franklinton. Jamison shot 13-of-25 from the field and has slowly established himself as one of the more efficient scorers in his class. He’s shooting 61 percent from the field on the season through the first five games as he’s producing 33.4 points, 14.4 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.8 steals per game. Jamison off to quite the start as his Louisburg Warriors are now 5-0 on the year. He’s slowly developing into a problem on the hardwood and has heard the most from Elon, East Carolina, Murray State and Clemson.
Toyaz Solomon making waves with Combine Academy PostGrad
Toyaz Solomon is having quite the season on the postgrad scene at Combine Academy. According to the team, the likes of Maryland-Eastern Shore, UNC Greensboro, Mount Saint Mary’s, Central Michigan, Western Illinois, and Siena are the latest schools to reach out to the team about him. He’s a 6-foot-7 prospect that can play the wing and inside with his ability to shoot the ball and play above the rim. The post-grad track is really paying off for him in 2019-20.
Jacob Morgan making waves at Pine Lake Prep
2021 forward Jacob Morgan put up 16.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this past week for his Pine Lake Prep squad, including a 20-point game against Charlotte Latin School. Morgan is currently unranked in the PrepHoops North Carolina rankings but it’s definitely bound to change given his production and upside on the wing. At 6-foot-6, he’s got nice length and ability to create his own shot off the dribble.
Keep an eye on Jayvon Mercer at East Wake
6-foot-5 junior forward Jayvon Mercer is another prospect that’s having a productive season with East Wake High School. Mercer is putting up 19.9 points and 8.8 rebounds per game this season. He posted 31 points and nine rebounds in their last game against Harnett Central on Monday night, which is his fifth game scoring in double digits in six games. He’s relentless in the paint and is a player that should be on some college programs’ radar.
