Dre: Good afternoon Jaylon, let’s get right to it. What are some of the things you do well on the court and some of the things you need to work on?
Jaylon: My strengths on the court are scoring in volumes, getting others involved and contesting shots at the rim. My length defensively seems to give opposing teams problems. I believe my second jump on missed shots have tremendously improved. Most importantly I’m a student of the game. My most valuable asset would be my passion to compete. I’d prefer not to give a weaknesses. As I work everyday to improve them, I would prefer not to speak life into them. It’s my mindset.
Dre: Your high school squad is off to a great start and has proven that they’re one of the best teams in the state, what are some of the reasons why you think your team is doing so well this season?
Jaylon: We are shooting the ball very well. I’m blessed to play with this group of guys. Our staff has done a great job with giving us an identity throughout the season. We all just mesh so well. I couldn’t ask for a better situation.
Dre: You recently just picked up two big offers a couple of days ago from Texas Tech and TCU. Who are some of the colleges that you are hearing from?
Jaylon: I’ve heard from Oral Roberts, Richmond, Sam Houston. A few bigger schools have followed and messaged on twitter but won’t state their names until I know it’s a legit interest.
Dre: Lastly, what are some of the individual and team goals that you want to accomplish by the end of this season?
Jaylon: I believe one team one goal. I just to be whatever my team needs at the time. Rather that means scoring rebounding, guarding the best player. We all know what the main goal is. Therefore we don’t speak about it in the locker room, we encourage one another to work towards it every time we step on the floor. We just want JP2 to be respected as a powerhouse in basketball in the future.
Closing Statement
Jaylon Tyson is a talented and very focused young man who plays with passion and can do a little bit everything on the floor. He’s a good perimeter scorer who can hit jumpers or get by you with his first step and finish above the rim or through defenders. He’s also a good rebounder that uses his athleticism and length to grab boards. Although, he’s already developed a lot since the summer time, I believe that because of his work ethic, size and skill that he’ll become an even better player and prospect by spring.
