Eli Stephens is a Bad Boy!
Eli Stephens of China Springs may only be 5ft.8 but he’s a dynamic playmaking guard who makes everyone better on the court. In the championship game versus Saginaw, he broke players down off the bounce and scored whenever he wanted to and distributed the ball well. His play lead his team to victory and proved to me why he’s one of the top point guards in the state for 2021.
The Future is Bright for this Freshman
The Class of 2023 hoopers are a couple months in to their Freshman year of basketball and they’re multiple kids who are contributing early on the varsity level. One of those freshman hails from Wall Hs. 6ft.4 shooting guard Everson Armstrong. Armstrong was solid in the Saturday morning game against Stephenville, where he displayed a nice skill set, rebounding prowess and good passing attributes. He also has good shooting mechanics and nice feathery touch. He’s got a lot a room for growth but he’s got a chance to be special if he continues to improve on all aspects of his game.
College Coaches check out Unsigned Senior Teraven Rhodes
The state of Texas has a lot of unsigned seniors in the 2020 class who college coaches should come take a look at. Teraven Rhodes of Lufkin Hudson High School is one of those available prospects. Last Saturday he exhibited the ability to attack open seams from the perimeter and he showcased his freak athleticism by throwing down an emphatic two hand jam. His recruitment is currently quiet but I believe that it will start to pick up some very soon.
Player Recaps:
Benjamin Samples | SG | Hallsville | 2021
Samples is a lethal three point shooter who when squared is almost automatic from deep.
Ryan Pondant | PF | Hallsville | 2020
The tall lean four man is mobile and a solid rebounder who can finish around the paint. Still developing offensively but he’s got the size, length and motor that make him a recruitable college prospect .
Keilohn Ferrell | PG | Lufkin Hudson | 2020
Ferrell had the play of the tournament versus Grandview High school. His team was down two points with 7 seconds remaining in the game. Ferrell’s teammate inbounded the basketball to him around half court where he dribbled to the elbow of the free throw line and elevated to hit the game tying jumper but was fouled in the process with only one second remaining. The senior then went to free throw line and drained the free throw that won the game for his team.
Mason Behrens | SG/SF | Granbury | 2020
Berhens did a little bit of everything to keep his team in the game against Hallsville. He grabbed a handful of boards, threw some sweet no look dimes in the half court and hit some tough jumpers from the elbow.
Mikey Withey | SG | Granbury | 2020
Withey connected for multiple threes and didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger. The Undersized two guard has nice feel and IQ.
Kyler Malone | PG | Saginaw | 2020
Malone is a crafty ball handler who knows how to get to his spots and is good at getting to the rim
