Takeaways
Size Mismatch
From the beginning tip between Pryor and Inola there was an obvious size mismatch. Pryor had a lot of length and size on their team in the front court. Inola did not have much of a presence on the inside. Their post player was under 6 foot and it showed throughout the game as they struggled to find much offense in the post. Although there were a few times that Inola 2021 Post Garrett Cummins showed off some decent post moves to score down low. It also was evident on the defensive end of the court as Pryor was able to get some easy buckets on the inside when they actually missed one of their three pointers.
3 and D
Pryor was trying to play fast, high pressure basketball. They pressed for most of the game forcing turnovers and leading to open shots on the other end. Most of the open shots happen to be three pointers as Pryor could not seem to miss from downtown. Pryor’s offense was spurred by their defense and it led to a fast pace run and gun type of game. Pryor finished the game with 11 made threes on the night.
Players to Know
Dawson Alt 2021 Pryor Wing
Alt was dominant from beyond the arc. The Tigers were getting out and running with their press defense and they would find Alt on the perimeter and he could not miss. Alt also showed excellent vision at times finding some of his teammates wide open for threes as well. Alt also attacked the basket well and showed off his hops with a dunk in the third quarter. Alt is an interesting prospect that small colleges will want to keep an eye on over the next couple years. He finished with a game high 23 points on the night.
Nik Jordan 2021 Pryor Guard
If it was not Alt hitting the three it seemed like it was Jordan. They were trading threes back and forth and Inola had a difficult time finding out who to key on because they were both on fire from deep. He finished with 14 points on the night with 12 of those coming from behind the arc.
Tuff Jones 2020 Inola Guard
Jones was the best shorter for Inola on the night. He was able to find his stroke in the second half and it helped keep the score more respectable. Jones even hit a couple of contested treys in the fourth quarter through tight pressure. He is a spot up shooter and his percentage goes up if he can have his feet set when he catches the ball. He finished with a team high 13 points on the night.
