However, the lead did not last as Coweta employed a half court press to turn Inola over. Coweta led after one 13-11. The second quarter was all Coweta. They built a lead because of their press defense and that picked up the pace of the game. Coweta lead at the half 37-25. Coweta let up on the press D in the second half but it did not change much in the game. They let at the end of three 52-34. Coweta kept up the pressure in the fourth as they would go on to take down the tigers 69-50.
Takeaways
Press D
The whole game changed when Coweta started to press the Longhorns. It was late in the first quarter and Coweta was caught off guard when the Longhorns came out on fire and that is when the Tigers started pressing. The Longhorns cracked under the pressure and could not find a way to break down the press. Coweta kept forcing turnovers and getting easy transition buckets.
Live and Die by the Three
Inola came out strong and were getting easy buckets in the paint until Coweta switched up their defense. Then the Longhorns had to rely on the three ball. They could not seem to find the paint through the press but they could find open threes. The Longhorns kept the game close when they were knocking down their threes but when they were missing they would let Coweta go on long runs.

Jacob Mills 2021 Coweta Post
Mills was a complete mismatch all night for Coweta. He was about 3-4 inches taller than anybody on Inola’s team and he used it to his advantage all night long. He used his strength and size on the boards on both ends of the court. He was creating second and even third chance opportunities for his team. Mills was making Inola kick to the outside because of his presence down low. He was rotating over to help his teammates to perfection. Mills finished the night with 7 points.
Hank Parsons 2021 Inola Guard
Parson was a bright spot for Inola on the night. Inola struggled on the offensive end of the court but Parson’s seamed to find his shot tonight. He was shooting the ball well from the perimeter.
